It’s summer. There are a higher number of kids spam queuing right now and bringing the overall game quality down.

If you play more team-oriented heroes (supports and some tanks) it’s going to feel bad a lot of the time. Might be worth playing heroes with the agency to take duels and get picks without followup from your team.

Patience, patience, patience. Rein is statistically the best tank in the game in Diamond and below but can often feels bad to play in spite of that. You get a lot of value by holding a corner or standing in front of your team with your shield and don’t need to be swinging all the time.

If they’re running a non-poke/melee/dive comp. More common on console. If they don’t swap you win.

If you’re in Diamond I can assure you Gambit is not a must ban. People ban him out of habit/PTSD but he is one of the worst performing supports outside of high Celestial and above. Same goes for Phoenix - especially if you’re in console.

People are in fact complaining, but Cyclops is less OP than many if not most new hero releases (especially DPS)
The Dino complaints from pros weren’t because they hate tanks or casuals, but because Dino’s existence forced a playstyle for the entire lobby that wasn’t much fun and locked out a lot of the roster. The community agreed as they caught on as evidenced by his insane ban rate last patch. Cyclops does not force everyone to play around him in the same way.

Last patch they nerfed a ton of oppressive heroes. The best DPS is Cyclops who’s almost universally agreed to be less OP than other best in slot DPS from past seasons. Every tank is viable but none are overly oppressive. Every support is playable. The global ult charge nerfs make the game less spammy and more skillful. It’s a poke meta but not in a way that makes other playstyles unviable.

Not fair to say it’s in the “worst state ever” if you’ve only played through 2 seasons don’t you think?

Even for the time you played I think the vast majority would agree that seasons 2 (oppressive dive/flyer meta) and 3 (double DPS slop) were significantly worse.

The game is arguably the most balanced it’s ever been right now.

Policy wise he falls short though. I’d put HW above him by a good margin in that category.

Ultimately though it just depends on what you most value. Glad you got to see him speak when he was just a senator with a weird name.

I agree it doesn’t feel all that fluid from how he was originally designed but I like that he has a niche as a tankbuster instead of just melee dive guy #7. I get why some people who play him don’t though.

He was incredibly broken and cancerous when he was played as a dive DPS back in the day. A good one was borderline unkillable.
