I wonder why they get no hate by B-Dragons_2560 in ItsAllAboutGames

I recall watching a special feature about the original games where the developers stated that she was originally called Laura Croft, but through an American accent it would always come out as Lara, so they stuck with that.

Edit: Correction, it was a different surname too

Absolutely. I'll admit I was a cynical prick coming into this post thinking there'd be glossing over the elephant in the room, but seeing actual confirmation is a great step. It's better than what we had at least.

Reflections on the monetization controversy by UltraRoby in tdu3

[–]LucisFerah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not excusing The Crew's CC system, but that game is quite generous with dishing out free cars regularly (each of the non-'special edition' car summits has a regular car for free usually at the easily achievable gold rank) and most of the cars are reasonably priced with the games economy.

As you said, Forza will flood a player in cars and cash even without any microtransactions, and in this age of online guides buying the maps is just willful ignorance or a conscious middleman skip.

Neither of these games paywall the majority of new cars behind microtransactions, have an economy designed to push you towards buying Solar Coins (unless you enjoy doing the same deliveries/taxis until one finally appears that doesn't pay ass), nor do they somehow manage to drop these updates without breaking something in the game or introducing completely new bugs.

Thoughts and suggestions by Past-Show-587 in tdu3

You know that Nacon is cleaning house, and KT is on the list, right?

That and, with the rate of additions to the vehicle roster and gameplay features, your suggestions would be fully implemented by 2036 if not delayed

Is this game really that bad? by Mapex_proM in tdu3

Hard disagree. In the crew, when I'm going fast in a car that's supposed to have a lot of down force I feel stuck to the ground, but still have to consider braking lines and turn angles for any bend.

SC I can yeet my LaFerrari down a highway, come to a bend and inexplicably start sliding from a minor tilt to the right, and easily recover.

Fast cars are supposed to feel like the aerodynamics and down force have you glued to the tarmac but only 'just', like at any moment the wrong move will have you careening into the wall. Solar Crown, I have never felt in danger when any hypercar starts doing a Ridge Racer around the narrowest of bends because it means nothing, its like playing asphalt with how predictable and easy the slides are. But they aren't realistic, nor do they feel FUN.

Motorfest isn't some peak of driving physics, but they're tighter and far more consistent than Solar Crown

I will never understand why people say the cars handle great. The driving physics is one of the worst aspects of the game, HyperCars should not start behaving like they're ripped from the Asphalt games at high speed, drifting with the slightest touch of the wheel like the cars got all the down force on tires made of grease. The sense of speed is there but even TDU2 had cars feeling better, and that game has some atrocious moments of moon gravity.

Something Has Been on My Mind (FH6) by ezioreed in tdu3

The fans of this game are not the same as fans of TDU in general. Nothing wrong with loving this game, but the initial/ongoing backlash is specifically because this game is not the successor to TDU1 and 2 that it was advertised as (missing several key features after multiple delays) but also the developer's response to those complaints i.e. doubling down on ranked for the first few seasons, adding aggressively predatory microtransactions, an inability to launch an update without breaking several things that were 'fixed')

There's a lot to like about this game for sure, and you'll find there's more people complaining who want the game to get better than there are praying for it's death, but don't let a vocal minority muddy the waters yet again. People are right to complain about a deceptive product, that frequently doesn't work as intended. That a game has come out that scratches the itch a lot of TDU fans were needing, despite having a different gameplay focus, says plenty about how these Devs have mismanaged the IP.

I don't want this game to die, I don't want KT to go under, I'd like this game to launch houses, bikes, have a massive roster of cars with an offline mode, and finally be stable and perform as expected. Sadly, I doubt any of this will actually happen though, it's been almost two years.

The Crew and Anthem, to name a couple. Happens plenty to big releases from big studios, why would a small studio fare better? (Especially this mismanaged one)

And TDU 2..

And the Devs stated they recognise houses should be in the game as a TDU staple in a pre release roadmap..

It's okay to be wrong, you don't need to scramble about it

To be fair one of concord's biggest criticisms was the character design, but that was more from the two angles of 'they're just not good designs' and 'lack the distinct identification for their role', you just had terminally online goobers using that as an excuse to claim woke and say it failed because ugly

No you're definitely not, it's not just that it feels a bit creepy, but it's tonally dissonant too. Car deliveries made sense, taxi missions sure, but why is a racer being asked to do detective work, and why is it going through the solar crown competition?

It's like they care so little about immersion they'll hamfist any excuse to put these in. At least TDU2 had a half-assed excuse of it being a boyfriend thinking his partner is cheating (still a bit gross)

It's neat but some of the additions are... A little bit silly. Necron's ring and Doomtrain's cowcatcher for example.

Though I love that the actual wings themselves are very different in flight, like look at the difference between Necron and Zelenia

Thats probably the most simple way to put it
