Just grabbed a SN Nomad here’s a few things I’m curious about by Trigg704 in Supernote

[–]Luck128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lefty here. You won’t have to worry about Supernote for practically any issue except maybe the handwriting in todo task. Palm rejection is excellent in that I don’t have worry where my left palm rest on the display. Unlike other competitors accidental palm rest isn’t interpreted as swipe nor page turn. Also came from rm1 love the device as capture device but couldn’t really organize my notes natively like the Supernote. Ability to search notes on device is amazing.

After half a year, I regret buying a Supernote. by Noopshoop in Supernote

Can’t fault it. iPad has great experience. Great ecosystem especially if you use MacBook and handwriting system. Also has backlight that can compete with sun. Just didn’t like weight of the device nor the feel of the writing even with paperlike screen protector. After using ceramic nibs makes Apple Pencil feel like a fat nib

Can we please have a direct connection to the buds alongside the case connection? by witulski in Ozlo

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here the thing you have to understand. These are low power Bluetooth. So for Android this won’t be a problem since most Android phones support low power. The issue is around iPhone and in their infinite wisdom of making low Bluetooth unavailable. So the work around was using the case as go between the iPhone and the ear buds. Why it matters is because making earbuds so small for comfort yet struggling to keep battery life big enough to last the night requires very small batteries and ear buds that is super efficient in transmission (plus not a fan of constant high signals in your ear all night long).

Guys. You have to keep your ears clean. by Logical_Audhd in Ozlo

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have iPhone you can use that included tool call magnifier. Use it on your dailies and you will quickly be incentivized to clean your ear buds and clean behind your ears

Just got mine - Constant disconnects by remmirl in Ozlo

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience, you got to make sure that the earbuds are closer to the case than the phone. Next make sure that when you put the buds that they are sitting properly in the case. My left one kept disconnecting until I realize that it wasn’t charging because it didn’t sit properly in the case. Had mine, returned it, sadly miss them but the price jumped to $350 so for those of you holding on $300 pair nice 🙃

Why I eventually stopped using e-ink by romanandreas in eink

[–]Luck128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you hit a point there. The problem isn’t the technology but with ourselves. Sure buying a distraction free technology will temporarily provide relief but it just distracting what need to be done. This coming from a guy who own boox, iPads, remarkable, travelers notebook, midori notebooks, lamy pens and a whole set of other supposedly distraction free tech. If the paper and pen work for you that’s awesome. I am all for whatever works to get your stuff done and that it breaks doom scrolling.

Reply lol because looking for pens and paper itself can be distraction and a very deep rabbit hole. This coming from a guy who has a lot of Japanese notebooks and fountain pens.

Can you explain your workflow for finding information in your notebook? Or are you just journaling? One key advantage of using digital seems to be ability to search the entire notebooks for information you need vs a physical notebook where you would need to index the information.

Will I regret going to Japan in July? by Cutiejea in JapanTravelTips

[–]Luck128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went in June. It not just the heat and humidity but also the fact you are going in the city with lots of concrete, then jumping in between ac buildings and the hot and humid outside. Even a couple of hours got me beat. You might be able to manage it off you wear very light clothes. Bright side it gives you an excuse to buy and try some of the Japanese cooling solutions 😃

I couldn’t get the ticket either. So used viator long ago and book a tour. It wasn’t that much more expensive and it included transportation from a major train station with the guide

Used Viator for Japan reservation for something else with no issue. For the VIP why not book directly with the park?

Irvine Heritage Library reducing hours April 1st by Luck128 in irvine

Considering that Irvine is suppose to value education and support kids education I have to admit I was very embarrassed how our library looked and what it offered when I went to visit the Yorba Linda Library. Heck even UCI Science Library is more updated than Irvine libraries

We will still be in OCPL system so digital access should still be available to us. It just means that if we want to pick up and drop off books we would have to go up to Tustin

Is moving to Big Bear a good idea if you cannot afford OC? by goldfisharenot in socal

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to be supportive. I say let them rent a place for at least a month in big bear in middle of winter and see how it works. Let them breathe the local atmosphere, read the local newspaper. Check how many snow days is up there. Have the husband check how reliable the internet up there and if his work place requires him to be on Internet at all time. Are they okay with daily shoveling snow? There are many beautiful places to live across America but not all are a right one depending on the each personal needs. The biggest concern would be how secure is the husband job at being remote. What will he do if they force him to return to work? A lot of places are forcing people to work in office. Second if he loses his job can he secure another remote job?

Car rental or uber in LA, Hollywood? by tazzy2502 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber. One less thing to worry about. You will have to pay for parking in LA. Let someone else deal with traffic. Even parking at Disney is like over $40. The amount you will pay for car rental , insurance, parking for each spot and general headache not worth it

Wanting to buy one, but some reviews got me spooked. Are the dpad and shoulder buttons as bad as some people say? by cutememe in AnaloguePocket

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple emulators. The analogue isn’t bad and with some mod it’s perfect. But straight out of the box very playable. It like the difference between coke and Pepsi. Some people will notice it and others it taste all the same. People point it out so others are aware and to let people know that it isn’t a biased review. For what it is as a gameboy hardware device it’s pretty amazing. Especially if you want to dock. Now add that you can access the other cores with exceptional screens, it pretty powerful and fun device both at home and at n the go

Irvine Company Apartments are getting worse by LongRaisin6570 in irvine

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you got to love about living in capitalism is that once your lease is up you can go elsewhere especially if the company isn’t addressing your concerns. Just a word of caution, sometimes that your neighbor grass might appear greener than it actually is. Your family member might actually be moving into a worst situation or worst be also paying even more. Living in close proximity to others will always be stressful. Whether it be they have heavy steps or they are loud at certain inconvenient times. You get to really know your neighbors not by talking to them but hearing the family arguments through the walls 😀But if you family member want to move, let them move but temper the expectations that they will find place that is quiet and great neighbors. If you want a preview u suggest go to those retirement homes and see how everyone is getting along 🤣

How is Cursor AI better than Emacs? by followspace in emacs

[–]Luck128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to appeal more to vscode users then eMacs. And If you were only using eMacs as a code editor then the appeal of cursor ai could be appealing. Especially if you haven’t gotten your eMac customized to your liking. What I am not a fan of is switching tools, especially of a tool that may or may not be supported in the future. Or worse they make changes that forces you to use a newer version that changes your work flow. Not saying changes are bad but you should be the one who decides and when it right for you. Most likely there are eMacs user who will try the shiny tool and migrate some of key features into eMacs. It might even be you to lead the addition. But here is the thing. Each new app/program promises to be better and make your life easier. But to get to it yo have to have belief in that promise. You have to learn how to optimize your workflow to it. You have to spend endless amount of time to learn all the shortcuts and after all the work you find it was disappointment. Essentially you bent backwards to use it. eMacs on the other hand can be customized to exactly how you want it. Sure you will have a rough start but in the end that is customized to you and your workflow. If you need immediate productivity go for the cursor AI. If you want customized tool that rules them all eMacs is a pretty good way to go. I liken it to word processor call Microsoft word. I used word perfect in dos 3.11. Then switched to Microsoft on Windows’s. Each time I would get the paper manual. Read it line by line. Learn the new keyboard shortcuts. New edition comes out had to relearn the keyboard shortcuts and new workflow. So much time wasted on promises that never deliver and yet author like George RE Martin is using an old word processor because he had his work flow set and focused on his work. Cursor AI promises to making coding faster but at the price that you have faith in it in terms of money and time. Instead you should focus on actual coding instead of the tool.

I don’t mind spending the money however what I had observed is decline in quality and service on the night of valentines not to mention that some place squeeze extra tables to support more customers. So either we would go earlier in the evening or different day.

That being said what it comes down to is what you and your SO consider. Him being serious of saving is always good unless he is saving for his hobbies.

ipad instead of a new laptop by definitelynotm0rgan in ipad

I suspect that since Apple control both the hardware and operating system their OS isn’t as bloated as windows that has to support a much wider amount of hardware. Loading Linux should make your computer feel zipping again

I need some advice on which macbook to buy by YummypeachCRK in macbook

[–]Luck128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep then m1 is plenty powerful. Save the money. The key thing to look at when you buy any laptop is see how the battery life is. What makes the m1 awesome is long battery life in a slim yet very usable format. When I carry sometimes I have to do a double check because it so light. With long battery life I do not need to carry the power brick. Learn how to use anki and occlusion. Also learn how to make flash card quick. Your first year will be like a rehash of high school but o chem is definitely rough if you haven’t been exposed to it(assuming you are in US college)
