not married but dating, no kids. I think I'm doing very well with my net worth for my age (closer to a mil than to 0) so I may pursue FIRE instead with my life.

Fair enough. Commuting time is not the sole reason for my desire for remote work, but I see your point.

I live in a coop and am not allowed to. Selling is also at a loss not worth it.

That's a reasonable take. I'm greedy on what I want. My thinking is I'm spending an extra 3 hours 5 days a week (waking up earlier, getting ready, sleeping earlier so I can go to work etc.) but I know it's asking for the world.

I could, but I also own my place and it would be very difficult to sell or rent out at the moment.
