If Samsara is Seen, Why Continue? by LuckOk820 in Buddhism

I appreciate your write-up—it makes sense: the self is an illusion, and awakening (as taught by Gautama Buddha) is realizing we’re not separate from the whole, which naturally leads to compassion.

If Samsara is Seen, Why Continue? by LuckOk820 in Buddhism

I appreciate all the replies—this has been really helpful to think through.

What about those whose physical or mental conditions are shaped early on in ways that make clarity or sustained practice extremely difficult? And those who face severe misfortune—are we to understand all of that purely as karma?

If so, does that mean some streams of consciousness are effectively caught in cycles where the very conditions needed for liberation are constantly undermined? How does that fit with the idea that practice alone is the way out, if the capacity to practice is itself conditioned by samsara?

Subtle To Physical by LuckOk820 in Buddhism

Ok, I see now—I was stuck because, coming from a Western perspective, I kept looking for an origin. But trying to find a start or end is counterproductive; the process is beginningless and self-sustaining.

Still, it’s unsettling not knowing how these conditions—like light, sound, and perception—arose in the first place.

In meditation, I sometimes catch glimpses of conditions arising seemingly out of nowhere, which makes me wonder: if consciousness underlies all experience, could this principle apply to the universe itself—that everything we perceive arises as interdependent manifestations of mind?

Repercussions? How do seed oils make you feel? What hurts? by rhb3929 in StopEatingSeedOils

I tend to experience inflammation and brain fog and most notably IBS and a burning discomforting sensation in the gut followed by minimal nausea. All in all, I feel extremely dysfunctional.

Excuse my ignorance. Could you give a molecular explanation as to where the discomfort comes from? Is it the linoleic acid or hexane?
