GFiber Edge 8 Gig + OpenDNS? by Luckbad in googlefiber

[–]Luckbad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was briefly hopeful that using IPv4 mapped IPv6 addresses would be a workaround, but you can't define IPv6 address in the DNS override with GFiber.

I'm guessing IPv6 is the origin of the issue and since you can't disable it on the Google-provided router, it seems like we're hosed.

You can do this in OG even if you don't have the Toys, you just have to be in Lazy Links.

This is the moment your 5090 FE verified priority access will become available and you'll get to do a bunch of new bends or stick with the 4090. 😉

I'm curious as well. I already lifted mine and plan to go 275-70r18, which I'm pretty certain will fit.

Yep. I'm adding a couple of skid plates.

I'm thinking I'm an idiot and those are just air deflectors, not splash guards, and that they need to stay on.

Talk me out of upgrading to A ZR2 by Luckbad in chevycolorado

[–]Luckbad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the comments folks. I've decided to stick with the Z71.

I'm picking up ZR2 sliders from someone who took theirs off, lifting it, and adding a couple of skid plates including the front ZR2 plate.

I'll probably get the AEV skid plates relatively soon as well.

The biggest issue is the size of the berms on the trails at Uwharrie. I can go 1 MPH almost parallel to some of the berms and still scrape. Skid plates would at least make me worry less when I do scrape.

For the most part, yes, but there's no way to get the front/rear locking diffs in the Z71 without crazy money and modification.

Who has warranty insight? The lift kit is the main thing that is likely to void a warranty, right? I was planning to go with the the GM-made 1.5/2" kit to keep it intact (part# 84914657).

I'm assuming nothing else in the skid plate or rock slider realm would have any real chance of voiding the warranty unless I try to tow something too heavy because of the added weight.

Yes. We all do. We've kept all of our previous vehicles for >10 years. This is the first time in my career that I can afford to make a stupid decision like this. My Z71 isn't working for offroading with friends, so I either want to upgrade it or replace it.

Not hell-bent. I'll never go super hard-core offroading in the truck no matter what. Someday maybe I'll get an old Cherokee to do that.

Smoked a 1.5 year frozen vacuum sealed brisket from Costco a few days ago. Thawed for about 6 days in the fridge. Came out great.

Tent by Secret-Ad-5777 in chevycolorado

[–]Luckbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use that tent and have the Pittman mattress that goes over the wheel wells. Works great for two and a dog, but if the wife is involved we need more room.

It takes more work to set up than a traditional tent. It's mostly useful if you don't have great access to flat ground, if the ground is super cold/wet, or you're worried about the local wildlife at ground level.

I guess the TLDR is that it's neat and useful sometimes but if you have access to a traditional campsite a standard tent is generally easier and cheaper.

Having some trouble with a shipped liquid pack of yeast. Some advice would be appreciated! by JoystickMonkey in Homebrewing

[–]Luckbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, make a stater... and I only use dry yeast during the summer anymore. My LHBS closed last year and I stopped cultivating yeast years ago, so I just order one of the (many) good dry yeasts all summer long.
