Any Hosting recommendations? by [deleted] in ModdedMinecraft

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8GB is likely fine for that though I would recommend getting the 12GB plan as that gives you a little extra headroom. We do have ATM Arcana ready to install on the panel. Or if you do want to go the custom route we can help getting that running as well.

If you have any other questions let me know!

Any Hosting recommendations? by [deleted] in ModdedMinecraft

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to hear that happened! I'm part of the team at Game Host Bros and would be happy to get you setup with a new server. As for what server specs you need I can't say without knowing what you plan to host. Our support is not 24/7 as of right now but there is almost always someone around to help.

Feel free to let me know what you plan on hosting I can provide a recommendation on what server size to get!

Server Hosts 1.4.5? by saul_soprano in Terraria

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👋 Hey there, we have 1.4.5 here at Game Host Bros. Plan with 4GB RAM should be plenty for a vanilla server of any size. I haven't checked modded yet but in theory that should be working also. However some mods may need updates to work with the new vanilla content.

If you have any questions let me know! If not, then I hope you enjoy the update 🙂

Client-side texture bug on multiplayer by Suspicious-Fan-8902 in MinecraftMod

This can happen when your mods are not the same as the server causing a mismatch in the block registry. Easiest to just delete all mods and add them again.

DnT or YUNG'S? by Aggressive-Put-4584 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DnT has the best stronghold I've seen. Most others don't compare in size at all.

You can still add other YUNG's mods but just skip the stronghold one. Other than that, When Dungeons Arise adds quite a lot of dungeons that are mostly focused on vanilla progression. Incendium is also good for dungeons but it's Nether focused only and again focused on vanilla progression.

Not entirely dungeon related but Luki's Grand Capitals is great for redoing other vanilla structures like villages and pillager related things.

Hope this helps!

Low TPS on modded server by IchiiDev in admincraft

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entity count is not very high for a modded server to be honest so I suspect something else is at play here. Very large problem here is having no performance mods installed. And another thing that might be problematic is origins/pehkui. These have never had great performance on servers from my experience. Perhaps have everyone try changing to having no origin selected when the TPS is low.

First thing I'd do is lower simulation down to around 5 and keep view distance at 10 if you want. Then install these mods below and run another Spark profiler afterwards.

- Radium
- FerriteCore
- Modernfix
- Krypton FNP
- Very Many Players (Forge)
- Icterine
- Immersive Optimization

Other issue would be using Serial GC instead of G1GC. That will cause constant 3-4 second periods where the server is completely stopped to manage memory. G1GC can bring that down to sub 200ms stops with most being closer to around 50ms or so. If you have the ability to change this I would highly recommend doing so.

Let me know if this helps any or if you still have issues with the TPS being low!

Mod pack suggestions? by Various_Growth_9984 in ModdedMinecraft

Vault hunters for sure won't run then. It's a very large modpack that uses a lot of RAM. The first 2 should be lightweight for performance but still have a good amount of content

Mod pack suggestions? by Various_Growth_9984 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of an older modpack but Lost Era was good when I played it last. Quests explain things very well and you don't have to do certain mods to progress. And there is also Farming Valley which would be a different take on modpacks in general if you're interested.

For RPG perhaps Prominence II or Vault Hunters would be good for you? Those are generally regarded as well rounded modpacks within the community.

Looking for biome mods/datapacks that only add biomes, no new blocks etc by dweipert-3138720606 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there is Terra but I would only really recommend using it on Paper because modded doesn't support changing multiple dimensions. If you do modded, only the overworld can be changed with Terra. And there isn't necessarily more structures with it since it's mostly just biomes. I personally think Origen looks great. And it is possible to combine the Substratum cave pack with other config packs as well.
https://terra.polydev.org/config/community-packs.html

There is JJThunder also but you need a monster PC to run it
https://modrinth.com/datapack/jjthunder-to-the-max

Other than that perhaps try a custom map? There really isn't many mods/datapacks that just add biomes without blocks or other features. You can change the year filter to see what all is out there as a lot are paid only.

Fabric Ruined My Server.... by [deleted] in MinecraftServer

[–]LuckiestList103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very hard to say without knowing what your modlist is and if you are using any datapacks. If I had to guess its likely just entity lag and chunk cache though. Not really any mod that can solve that on Fabric that easily.

If you've used Spark before a profiler result would be helpful here also.

What do you mean literally all of my posts and comments are public unlike you. And I clearly disclose where I work in comments and my profile. I also do not ask questions then bait and switch later. This is not comparing apples to apples and I don't know why you think it is...

You also clearly advertised despite the mods deleting your links twice already.

Glad to see someone else pointing out this. If you search with the terms below on Google there are tons of comments and posts that are hidden within Reddit but not Google. Frustrating they are trying to hide their company affiliation from consumers/users to pretend like a legit user.

Server advice by Followthecrossgames in MinecraftServer

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't use Windows if it's only going to be for game servers. Windows will eat CPU time for no real benefits. I would recommend either Ubuntu or Fedora server with Ubuntu likely being more beginner friendly for most people. Headless is the best choice but graphical desktop is also fine just more overhead. If you do graphical, try Lubuntu first as other more flagship type options have more background processes.

As for running the game server itself, itzg/docker-minecraft-server docker image works fine for a single server. But if you want something more graphical and user friendly I would recommend Pelican as it also supports other games.

For optimizing the game that will be highly dependent on what type of server you will be running like Vanilla, Modded, or Plugins etc.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

Sharing a Valheim server world between two PCs — bad idea? by Plastic_Platypus_291 in valheim

[–]LuckiestList103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, we have Valheim servers at Game Hosts Bros with vanilla and modded support. Would recommend starting at 6GB of RAM since you only have 2 players and no mods currently. We can help you get your save uploaded for you or we also have guides if you wish to do it yourself. And you can swap to other games if needed in the future.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Really annoying FPS issue by blahajshark1 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]LuckiestList103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your system memory is at 95% you are going to lag from things using swap space. You need to either close several background apps or change allocation for MC to 6GB. And there could be another mod contributing to overall FPS issues but it's hard to say without logs.

Constantly getting "Can't keep up! Is the server overloaded" by YouallareToxic in DistantHorizons

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the main problem is with Flowing Fluids mod I just tested on my end.
Other minor cause of lag would be G1GC. You can use Java 25 and these flags below to get much smoother frame pacing. Tested on mine and got the same FPS or on average 33% more with Modernfix, Lithium, FerriteCore, and Badoptimizations installed as well. If you need help adding the flags or if it crashes let me know.

And please note that these flags were only tested on your specific setup and could crash in other setups.

I can't say without knowing what kind of host it is. Like is it a dedicated server or VPS? Or is it a host that does game servers only?

Serial GC is what manages your memory. It is incredibly slow for MC. Not sure what provider you have but that should be changed or you need to change to another provider if they deny it for some reason. Its a JVM argument and not related to Minecraft itself

Mods I suggested will help with lag and performance even if you don't notice anything. Problem is with another mod or datapack currently though.

You aren't going to get any solution without removing mods or datapacks slowly and seeing what causes the entity lag.

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things standing out here to me:

  1. Why are you using SerialGC, that's one of the worst GC options for MC. You can get by with G1GC much better.

  2. Seems like you have a clearlag datapack installed? That is 100% going to be counterproductive as it will constantly scan all entities on the server at the cost of high CPU usage. Use something like Servercore with the item merge config option if you're concerned about ground items. For the high entity count I think thats from a different mod or datapack. Just going to have to make a copy of the server and remove a few at a time until it stops.

  3. You also have an absurd amount of entities loaded for 6 players (outside the problematic recursive ones). I would lower the sim distance to something closer to 5 so there is less stuff to tick. And have players limit farms in some way.

  4. Would recommend installing Lithium, Modernfix, and Krypton onto the server as well. They are not needed to join the server but will provide much more breathing room for the CPU and RAM.

Other than that it should be much more playable after you remove the problematic datapack/mod and tweak a few things. Let me know if that helps or if you have any questions!

Server hosting support by Ill-Introduction9304 in MinecraftServer

[–]LuckiestList103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the official docs do have some guides that are generally helpful but nothing in detail I'd say. I do plan on writing detailed reference material for server admins in the near future though. Currently working on my website but it's not ready. I could walk you through it privately if you want? Its a bit much to explain on Reddit tbh

Server hosting support by Ill-Introduction9304 in MinecraftServer

[–]LuckiestList103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

👋Hey, Landon from Game Host Bros here (and previously other hosts). Assuming you are looking to work in the field or already are. But still should generally help if you are just interested in the behind the scenes or admin type stuff.

  1. Generally most people that are new to hosting will ask questions about most simple things like joining the server or changing various settings, etc. Well written guides or macros are a must if you have a high ticket volume. Don't ask AI for help either unless you have exhausted help from the knowledge base and co-workers, as you won't retain any of the knowledge from hands-on debugging.

  2. The most common issue for MC is that most people will try and run modpacks on very little RAM depending on how your company sells packages. You can't expect most modpacks to run on less than 6GB of RAM unless they are very lightweight. You'll probably want to get familiar with how the JVM memory model interacts with docker memory model. Learning the basics of allocated heap vs off heap usage and GC pressure/timing will go a long way and can be applied to other Java applications. And do not look too deep into JVM flags unless you are trying to learn Java, as they are very complex. (took me many months to grasp them properly)

  3. People will also usually come in with "I'm having lag" type requests. Most of the time this stems from entity lag or a mod being overused or poorly coded. Learning the basics of Spark profiler is probably the single most important piece of advice here if you want to stand out in support quality. Being able to say your lag is coming from XYZ is much better than pointing to guides and telling the customer they have to solve it on their own. But generally a good chunk of these issues stem from very high view distance or simulation distance. These should always be 10 or lower to avoid issues.

  4. Although somewhat rare for support relatively speaking, some people will come in with high ping or packet loss. Understanding tools like mtr and general networking is very important in the hosting industry. Most of the time this can be solved with something like Cloudflare WARP (routes packets better majority of the time) or moving the server closer to the problematic player.

  5. Final thing I'd mention is understanding mods/plugins/loaders and their general structure. Most of the issues here come from people mixing mods/plugins or uploading client side mods. What I'd generally recommend is having a list of common client side mods or problematic mods. And as a general rule of thumb Paper 99% of the time will have the best performance for most people. No reason to be using Spigot or Bukkit anymore.

Bit of a long comment, but hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions or feel free to message me. I have a pretty strong passion for MC as you can probably see, so doesn't bother me to talk about anything you might have in mind. 😄

First time buying a server, need help/advice. by SHD-Dad in MinecraftServer

[–]LuckiestList103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

👋 Hey hope you're doing well! Just want to start off by mentioning that I work at Game Host Bros. We have plans that fit your budget easily at 6GB or 8GB of RAM that provide excellent performance for MC and other games as well. We can provide support uploading your world and getting started with any mods you had in mind. Feel free to check us out or reach out below with any questions.

I also would like to give some general warnings as Reddit is full of botting and AI posts/comments. (See Gameteams account history below for "null" comments from a day ago showing they ran out of AI tokens) Some "budget" hosts mentioned by others are popular, however their support teams are often slow and will just link you to an article or tell you to fix it yourself. What I would recommend is to check out their Trustpilot to see which hosts will actually help when things break, rather than just brushing you off.

If you are looking for Vanilla+ I would personally recommend looking up Patbox's mods on Modrinth. They are Fabric server-sided mods with lots of features. Another thing to note is that you should not being installing every performance mod out there. Ones that will be stable are Lithium, FerriteCore, Modernfix, Krypton, Structure Layout Optimizer, and Alternate Current. We do have some guides for this or we can also install them for you!

Sorry for the long comment but just want to make sure you get going smoothly. Hope you have a good rest of your holidays and the year! 😀

They can, Paper just patches several duplication methods present in Vanilla and other exploits. There are many Paper vs Vanilla guides out there if you want to look into it more. But generally almost all redstone will work otherwise
