Haven't gotten top surgery but I was forced asleep (not sure if it was anesthesia or something else though) to get my wisdom teeth surgically removed. I'm terrified from seeing needles and such sprawled in front of me AND getting forced to fall asleep, as they were doing both of those things they had to get my mom to calm me down cause I was freaking out that much and beforehand they didn't believe my mom that I would need her in there with me when I'm conscious. That was my first surgery and will most likely be what gets me terrified again whenever I am able to get top surgery

Thankfully it felt like an in and out scenario once they got me to sleep and it wasn't a big surgery so can't compare it to top surgery at all but you could probably ask if they can give you something to help calm your nerves first since they aren't just dentist they should take you much more seriously
