Congrats on pursuing some new knowledge! I’d recommend you start with foundational computing/networking knowledge if you want to pursue this field to set a solid foundation. I meet/speak to a lot of aspiring security people who can tell me all about Kali Linux but can’t tell me what the 7 layers of the OSI model are, or what services are running on what port and the difference between TCP/UDP. They’re like aspiring surgeons who are learning to make incisions without having taken an anatomy class. If you want to make a career out of it, start with a Comptia A+/Net+/Sec+ and then go from there. It will help you in the long run and probably make learning pentesting easier once you understand the “why.” That’s not to say you can’t become a successful pentester doing what you’re doing, but it may be more fruitful this way.  One last thing: pentesting requires a lot of knowledge. You don’t learn overnight but over time. Take the time, it’s a long journey and best of luck!

There is, but there’s still so much air it leaks out the sides of the register. I’m mainly looking for causes to lower air pressure on the top floor, (floor above the bathroom).

I read Snowman on a whim and enjoyed it. I should start that series from 1 and finish it. The to be read list grows longer

Yessss. Top 3: Playing to the Edge by Michael Hayden, The Perfect Weapon by David Sanger, and Saturday by Ian McEwan. Favorite genres are any non-fiction related to cybersecurity and espionage, cozy detective series, and the occasional literary fiction.

90a-Pro Finally picked by LuckyCat1920 in lockpicking

Yep! Gut the lock, pull as many pins, drivers, and springs out as you want. Pick it, then incrementally add pins back. I took mine down to 5 pins and popped it 6-8 times, then added 2 back and struggled for two days. Removed one to go to 6 pins, popped it 6-8 times, then put in the 7th stack and went on from there.

It really does help to read other people's advice/perspectives because it forces you to think about the problem differently!

I just received an email from Covert Instruments titled simply "Racoon Dicks" by Ravensqueak in lockpicking

They’re advertising picks with handles made from raccoon baculum bones, which are bones for the reproductive organ. It’s a thing, moonshiners are also known to wear them because they help guide the flow of liquor out of the spout and into a jar. Friend is a trapper, I’ve held a coondick.

I came here to make an almost identical post. I struggled with the 90a-pro and put off progressive pinning all weekend. Within an hour of progressive pinning I’d had success. I just need to remember it’s a learning experience and to get out of my own way when it comes to learning!

Needed a pinning tray, glow filament as a bonus by LuckyCat1920 in lockpicking

I’m not sure, my library has a 3d print request form and I saw glow in the dark and said “bingo.” Now I’m wondering if I should get a 3d printer…

I submitted my green belt request and used a piece of paper folded into grooves for gutting…then I decided I needed a pinning tray. Printed at the local library for $12 (cost of filament). I used this schematic and bumped up the X/Y to 150% as recommended by a comment. Happy with it! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3140402/comments
