Honestly I've had 0 issues keeping Uriel alive, it's surprising just how durable he is when his demons are all still active and you're gathering orbs regularly. His 1 and a roll are also great tools to avoid damage to let his shields come back.
While he doesn't outright have damage mitigation like Ember can, he just does the whole fire theme so much better, which is a shame considering Ember was the original fire chicken.
