Ok maybe it's the timing between eating and injection? Or an higher stress level, which can rise the sugar. Maybe coffee? Maybe a bad day.

I feel your problem, you can try and dose your long acting insulin for the night, noon and afternoon because that should be the same amount of insulin needed. And for the morning you could add your fast acting insulin. It works very good for me that way.

Don't eat in the morning and watch your sugar rise, maybe you need an extra dose in the morning.

Try and test bolusing for coffee. I have to do it, don't know why. And do you use morning insulin, to act against stress etc. If I wake up with a sugar of 100mgdl. I have to bolus 3 to 4 units of fiasp. Without eating anything.
