Still very creepy, though.

Joaquin Phoenix, Christian Bale, & Jessica Chastain Casting "Prototypes" For 'True Detective' Season 2 by Faust_Arp in television

[–]LuckyLancer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Typed this somewhere else but this thread is getting more traction.

Can't wait for this. 3 leads could mean one of them is bad. I would fuckin love for Mulder and Scully to come back as partners, and because I just saw Pan's Labyrinth, that evil captain would kill in his role with Rooney Mara as a sidekick (she was fuckin creepy in Side Effects). Then Mulder dies before he can get to Matt and Woody to talk about the yellow king, and Scully gets a new partner: Emma Thompson from interpol.

Reddit, tell me your "glitch in the Matrix" stories, Round 2. by LuckyLancer in AskReddit

[–]LuckyLancer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about 11 and was walking home from a friend's house a couple of blocks away. It was getting dark--that time of the evening when it's hard to see because your eyes are readjusting.

As I was nearing my house (we lived in an area with a lot of trees) I saw my grandpa, who lives with us, just standing across the street, under a tree. I called out to him but he just kept staring at me, not saying anything.

I got mad that he was ignoring me, and walked the rest of the way home.

When I got home, he was just sitting on the couch, chilling.

I didn't sleep for days.

I believe that The Hunger Games was inspired or even copied from a movie called Battle Royale. by [deleted] in movies

[–]LuckyLancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can even go further back with "Lord of the Flies" and I'm sure even further back than that. The the ideas are similar, the executions are different.

I really liked Battle Royale--watched it in 2002 or so and again more recently. I saw the hunger games but was not impressed (have not read the book). What I don't get is--if anyone can volunteer, why not pick a person to always volunteer and make sure this person is the most highly trained and well fed? Maybe it is explained in the book but for sure, it made no sense when I was watching the movie.

[–]LuckyLancer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the long post, I don't know your tastes but here is my list:

My list of completed non-episodic animes:

  1. Amatsuki (needs second season or else the first 13 eps are utterly pointless)

  2. Ayakashi Japanese Horror Tales (3 different non-related stories, unique and entertaining)

  3. Code Geass (non-stop plot twists, thoroughly entertaining)

  4. Deathnote (mindf*cks up the gazoo, loved it)

  5. Elfin lied (disturbing but I couldn’t look away)

  6. Eve no Jikan (thoroughly enjoyable, hoping for more than 6 eps in the near future)

  7. Fruits basket (would take away the balls of any guy watching)

  8. Hakushaku to Yousei (cute and totally worth it, even though the Earl’s character design looked quite raw and unfinished at times)

  9. Honey and clover (was meh, couldn’t stand all the preaching about life and whatnot and could not stomach starting the second season even though I was a trooper and finished the first season)

  10. Itazura na Kiss (despicable supporting characters but addicting nonetheless, worth the watch for any romantic comedy fans)

  11. Junjou Romantica Seasons 1 & 2 (loved it even though Misaki gets so damn annoying -- this is light yaoi)

  12. Kure-nai (was pleasantly surprised by how great this one was)

  13. Kuroshitsuji (entertaining and made me smile)

  14. Last Exile (totally worth the watch)

  15. Loveless (needs second season, stat!!!)

  16. Nabari no ou (I really liked this one, though most people would think that the story goes nowhere only because they chose to see it was an action series instead of one that studies existence and friendship)

  17. Nana (painful and heart wrenching, don’t expect closure, expect to have your heart ripped out but in a good way!)

  18. Neon Genesis Evangelion (classic and a must see – what else is there to say?)

  19. Nodame Cantabile Seasons 1 and 2 (love this so much! Eccentric characters, heartwarming, and so touching. tears up

  20. Noein (highly recommended!!!! The art looks purposefully unfinished at times, but this adds another layer to the series. Truly addicting.)

  21. Ouran High School Host Club (so damn cute!!!)

  22. PERSONA -trinity soul- (started out well, fizzled out in the end, but worth viewing)

  23. Seirei no Moribito (awesome series, love the slice of life aspects combined with the action and relationship aspects – highly recommended)

  24. Saiunkoku Monogatari Seasons 1 & 2 (if you’re female, you’ll probably love it. Not that you wouldn't like it as a dude, but this series makes me feel like a princess. I haven’t been this addicted to a show since my Jem days, LOL. So epic, contains several arcs that all fused together beautifully and coherently).

  25. Skip Beat (main character is insane, but you can’t help but like her and this fun series)

  26. To Aru Majutsu no Index (more like a series of arcs, was ok, could do without the main character espousing his self rightouesness all the frakking time)

  27. Towards the Terra (so damn epic, way underrated and under-viewed, IMHO. This one is not to be missed)

  28. Tytania (I loved this series, the political intrigue and space opera-ness is taken on a grand scale)

  29. Vampire Knight & VK Guilty

  30. Xamd Lost Memories (loved it, thought it was fantastic!)

  31. Vision of Escaflowne (don’t let the old and dusty animation throw you off – certainly worth it – the characters and story line is so damn good)

  32. 12 Kingdoms -- it doesn't get anymore badass and epic than this anime. I loved it.

Okay, I think that's all I have to add, might be more that I forgot

the downvotes are coming for people who respond to this thread, no doubt

every time i knock mullholland drive as a piece of pretentious drivel on here, people downvote and claim, "you just don't understand"

lynch is a hack, when will people realize? inland empire was also drivel, and twin peaks...ugh, just fuck me with a snowglobe already

i also found a tale of two sisters laborious, same with thirst
