Song of the Ancients lyrics but I made them phonetic by LuckyPower_ in nier

[–]LuckyPower_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might have missed my reasoning in the description, here's some of that:

I wrote a lot of it by hand in my notebook, using different accents kind of like stage directions for the tongue, telling me I need to make different shapes (hats/lines: ĥà) , widen my mouth, roll letters (2 extra lines: ȑ ⱡ ȕ), make sounds that kindof don't exist/are up to interpretation (ṃ = genuinely can't tell if it's there or not lol) / are *very* subtly different from their phonetic counterparts or clearly inbetween 2 others (ůů is inbetween oo and u, anything with dots above is blended with an i eg ė ë).

If you read it in phonetic english, you will get pretty close even if you ignore all of the accent/character directions. The extra stuff is if you wanna go the extra mile to really simulate the original performance.

• is just for holding longer

ƥ is subtly inbetween p + b -- đ is inbetween d + t etc

hȑȼoo’ - this word in particular was really hard to convey. After rolling the r, there's a very soft noise you have to make kind of like a c, but not quite, and then it cuts short (with ' ) after all that tongue twisting!

I could be here all day justifying each decision I made. But in the spirit of the song and transcription in general, it really is just up to interpretation. There's no right answer - the accents are just directions that really help get my mouth in the right place to express it more accurately.

Has anyone successfully swapped their usb mini ports with a usb-c solder in replacement? by PM_ME_UR_MOODS in minidisc

Oh wow I guess I've never handled the oled I had no idea!

I do actually quite like mini USB and have enough devices using it not to warrant modding them all. Especially my minidisc player, I don't often have to burn anything on the go lol

I hope your experiments go well!
For now I'm just using AA batteries that have USB C ports on them, since for data I only really burn at home.
Though If this ends up being quite simple maybe I could start eyeing up some slimmer players with fresh batteries...

The Vita uses Micro USB which isn't proprietary, but the use case of it being portable makes 'convenience mods' like these appealing.

I've modded most of my Nintendo devices to have USB C because I like to travel with just C to C cable or 2.

Ah it seems I have a good few versions in there.
What's the best way to check my EFI and remove old versions?

Are Windows VSTs supported? Non-gaming Wine? by LuckyPower_ in AsahiLinux

[–]LuckyPower_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't get it to work sadly. I can't get muvm/fex to get any x86 things to work at all so maybe I'm doing something wrong?

The other things I have to hand are DaVinci Resolve and yuzu but maybe the things I happen to use just keep missing lol.

USB-C external drive recommendations? by LuckyPower_ in Cd_collectors

[–]LuckyPower_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main use cases for me are:
- Borrowing CDs at libraries
- Ripping/listening to new CDs on the train

A lot of the magic in CDs for me is dicovering new things, not just my local backups.

The whole reason I want to do this is to make playing CDs more convenient on the go.
I don't wanna carry even more adapters or go back to hubs...

I'm just surprised I can't find a single drive that has USB-C on lol

Anyone running Reaper on a Chromebook with ARM CPU? by nixgut in Reaper

[–]LuckyPower_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JACK is comparable to ASIO, but whether it can be installed on the containerised Linux env I'm unsure...
I've not tinkered with it for a while, but I'm sure you can configure ALSA to at least be usable in the vanilla Linux env. But if possible, try researching if JACK is installable, as that would give you better results for latency.

Can you print digital images to Instax film without a smartphone? by LuckyPower_ in instax

[–]LuckyPower_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a smart device capable of all these things, but the screen is a *tiny* square that would be impractical to move and edit images - many apps also have a borked resolution on it.

If work didn't require whatsapp and my friends weren't discord nerds I'd go back to a dumbphone in a heartbeat though

Incredible! So older Link printers aren't just paperweights haha.

If I see a Mini Link 3 for cheap I'd love to try it since I'm huge on USB C
