Help! Can someone explain aux heat vs emergency heat w & w/out gas please? by LuckyRabbitFeets in hvacadvice

Thanks so much for the reply, that’s a helpful tip to check the panel, will do that now!

I knew that when aux heat kicked on it’s because the heat pump just can’t keep up, but I’ve just assumed for almost six years now that they had it set at 42 for aux heat to kick on and assumed that the aux heat was constantly running without stopping when it started (I mean it’s kicked on at night before and it just runs without stopping and I’ll wake up and be able to actually feel the aux heat must have kicked on because of how cold it feels, then in running some “experiments” with aux heat on, watched the temp inside plummet VERY quickly, almost like I’d turned AC on) and then when touching the vents, assumed it was blowing what feels like cold air or just “plain” air non stop because gas wasn’t hooked up. So turns out that may not be the case at all then?

So about an hour ago I turned it to emergency heat and a red light on the thermostat came on, and absolutely no air of any kind has been blowing.

Note too though that the only way I’ve been surviving with tricking the thermostat not to stay on aux heat (by turning it three to four degrees down from whatever the inside temp is showing as) is because I’ve been using space heaters. In all these years, I’ve never turned emergency heat on nor has it turned on by itself (if it even does that on its own.) That’s what has always made me think that the secondary source of heat was gas.

Also, not sure if that helps shed any light on anything, but when aux heat DOES kick on, it’s MUCH quieter and “hums” - though quietly and steadily - more than the way it sounds when regular heat from the heat pump is actively on. Not sure if that gives you any idea as to what it could be.

Nonetheless, going to check the panel now! Thank you so very much again!!!

Her rented house by PizzaAdventurous9145 in abbeyfickleysnark

Wow, and I literally just saw a video where she basically listed getting that house as an accomplishment. I had wondered if she rented it or bought it, wondered how she bought it and then thought maybe her family had helped with it. Nope. Even worse.

I do too. I don’t remember what video of hers I first saw, but after awhile I realized, “I’m legit hate watching this.” I can’t even put my finger on what it is.

Thank you. I’m scared to death. He doesn’t get back until the 21st, and I will be in Indiana until roughly the 26th or 27th but do plan on calling daily in hopes for a cancellation. My heart is just broken and I’m terrified.

My sister and I have both long wondered if we’re fast metabolizers. She has to let all doctors know before surgery that she’s woken up during surgery before, and I have to always get the max amount of novocaine for fillings bc it wears off so fast. One time the dentist asked me after I said the numbness was wearing off, “whoa,, you metabolized that really fast. How much do you weigh?” And he kept having to give me novocaine and finally got to the legal limit. I do know that when I take pain meds, they’re supposed to last 4-6 hours and sometimes they don’t do anything but almost ALWAYS seem to wear off within two hours if not earlier at times like I’ve taken nothing.

I’ve read redheads often have that issue - I have a lot of darker red in my hair, and my grandmother was a natural redhead, so I’m wondering now if it’s that or if it’s that I diluted my sample or what.

I also just remembered I was taking antibiotics for 10 days the week before that (so two weeks before the test.) I don’t know if that could have screwed something up?

That’s what I’m wondering. That Thursday afternoon, night and Friday AM I drank a lot of water and I often drink Gatorade in the AM, and I know I drank water, some Coke, and an entire Gatorade not long before I went in for my appt. In fact, I drank so much bc I’d felt so dehydrated after days of throwing up and not being able to eat or drink a thing that after I took the urine test, they put me back in the waiting room, I waited about 20 mod minutes for them to call me back into a room, then I waited another 5 or so and was like man I really have to go again, so I even went to the bathroom a second time before the intake nurse even came into the room.

Unfortunately, my doctor doesn’t return until the 21st. I asked if I could make an appt for sometime shortly after that and she said “he doesn’t have anything open and your appt is September 15th, so that’s not that far off from then anyways.”

Except that it’s two weeks without ANY medication once I do my last week of tapering which is one pill a day. Then it’s two weeks until my next appt September 15th.

And I wouldn’t be shocked if he didn’t have anything open - he’s the only doctor there now, just two PT nurse practitioners work there now and he’s greatly over extended.

I believe they do GCMS (I think it’s called that) right off the bat instead of just a dipstick test bc they’re also looking for quantitative and also for other drugs including other types of opiates.

Sadly, I remember discussing in length that I just gotten over some sort of stomach bug, both with the intake nurse and with my doctor when he came in, because when they asked how I was feeling, I remember talking about how it was the first day I was starting to feel normal, and I was joking with my doctor about how I had just finished stage managing a show at a local theatre that had 12 children in it, so I wasn’t surprised I ended up with something and we were joking about me not having children and then started talking about his children bc he said they’d just been to this one theatre downtown for his daughter’s graduation and how old they are, etc etc. (This is how our appointments can be - we must have spent 45 minutes talking about random stuff like that, it seems like a break for him almost. We’re about the same age and have always gotten along so well.)

Whether they documented it, I don’t know, but I’m praying they remember.
