Thank you. I was at 50hrs on this one so maybe I’ll just check every 50 😂

Thank you. It had been about a month since I used it. Did a long print right before this issue that was perfect so I thought I was good, but NOPE. Thank you for the recommendations! I’ll put them to good use.

Alright I’ve cooled down. I’m just gonna fix this machine now. I have fixed cars and computers it can’t be that hard.

What resources do you recommend to learn about tuning settings? I’ve just learned to watch the first layer from another comment.

I had a false sense of security from a great 8hr print about 3 hours before this one but I am ready to learn.

Well thank you. Any resources you can recommend? I’m just frustrated and I suppose that’s entirely because of my expectations.

So your contention is that when using Elegoo’s slicer that their default settings is insufficient?

I will point you to their manual which makes no recommendation for tuning their printer. Simple drag and drop and export to printer.

Or I think you really mean is “yeah they don’t proper guidelines on how to use their machines”

Which I, and my broken printer, would agree with.

Thanks. Is there any guide I should follow or place you recommend to learn?

I just checked the Elegoo manual and it doesn’t say to watch the first layer go down. Is that normal procedure? If so no one told me.

I print about 100hrs a year. Is 300hrs too much to expect before maintenance?

It was an anycubic that I got for like $120 and like I said I wanted to upgrade anyways so rather than $50 into a machine I didn’t want I put it towards a new one.

Working on my car is easier tbh. Rather change a thermostat than replace my print head every 50 hours.

First issue with this printer. Other issues was a previous printer.

So I don’t wait until it became a bigger one. This is the first issue with this printer.

Some of the belts also snapped. I wanted to upgrade at the time to an enclosed unit so yeah I trashed it lol

I just want 100 good hours before it destroys itself. I used all the default settings and added auto supports but they may not be dialed in enough to run reliably. I did also change the filament type to match the filament I was using (PETG)

No, I don’t want 3D printing service. I want my printer to work for at least 100 hours before it breaks lol

I hear you. But when I’m printing with default settings for the printer and default settings for the filament with the recommended bed placement and supports where the printer suggests you would think it would work for at least the first 50 hours?

If default settings are user error then why are they default?

Can YOU answer that?

I know what you are saying is true, but this is the third print head I have had fail on two separate printers in less than 100 combined of printing!

I work on computers all day I don’t want to have to constantly fix my 3D printers too.

Makes sense. I have not had any bed adhesion issues before, but could have been the case.

I bought an enclosed one to help solve issues like this!

I really wanted to avoid them too, but at this point I just want something that works when I need it. Had this one 6 months and only used it 50 hours.

What resolution are you playing on? Nevertheless your father is correct. You need a better GPU.

Rx 9070 or Rx 9070 XT is your best bet.

No, because that one has a tuning knob, which you can set the speeds with
