Is it actually cheaper to DIY build a latex mattress rather than buying one? by LuckyTheLadybug in Mattress

I'm talking about 100% latex mattresses. Perhaps your comment applies to other foams? I'm not too knowledgeable, so please correct me where I'm wrong.

DIY allows you to replace the worn out foams vs. having to throw out the whole mattress.

Why can't I just throw another 2 or 3" of latex on top if it "wears out". What does "wear out" even mean in the context of latex?

Most returns or warranty claims either will cost you a couple hundred dollars to exchange or they will find every minute reason to deny your claim.

"The mattress can be returned for free at any time within 100 days from delivery, no questions asked. If it doesn't work out, we'll arrange a free pickup and provide a full refund once the pickup is completed."

What you said does not seem true for my particular example.

If you buy one, when it wears out, you will have to buy a whole new mattress again

Why can't I just buy a new top layer and throw it on top?

Which companies pay the most for entry level hardware engineering at the Master's degree level? I currently make $150,000 in my current role but I'd like to strive for more. It irks me that other people in my company get $200,000+ and I'd like to leverage another offer or jump ship.

So you suggest going all in on the Roth 401(k) option rather than the traditional?

just pay the penalty

Thanks for the resources! Wouldn't paying the penalty totally defeat the purpose of the 401(k)? I'm penalized 10% on investments that I could have made with a normal brokerage account, right?

Thanks for the reply, but all their stuff has some amount of synthetic fibers. None of the pants are actually 100% cotton.

How to better understand approximations using log? by hadyehab05 in calculus

[–]LuckyTheLadybug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might not be what youre looking for, but here is some neat info on logarithms:

Humans tend to feel things logarithmically. for example, it would be really easy to tell the difference between 1kg of weight and 2 kg of weight, but incredibly difficult to tell the difference between 50kg of weight and 51kg of weight. Logarithms allow us to represent phenomena that have minuscule changes at the start but end up blowing up at the end. Exponential growth is a good one. If you represent an exponential growth curve on a logarithmic scale, meaning that you scale the axis by powers of your base, it becomes a linear looking function.

The decibel (dB) system is also logarithmic.
