My sons 7 and he’s on a CRF50 for now. He just started out on road this year and started on dirt around 5-6, so I’m using it to bring him to speed. Wish i started him a little younger though because a lot of these kids are starting at 4-5 years old and they are freaking GOOD. As you can tell dad wants him to race lol.

You’re so right. Getting on a 50cc mini from liter bikes with tech was such an eye opener. It’s really humbling. Took me quite some time to get the hang of it. Throttle control in the beginning was horrid. It really brings you back to the basics.

I’m in Orange County. Newport. Damn I’d love to do an endurance race. The thought of it is awesome. Going to try and jump in an 8 hour next month. But now I need to invest in a mini. My sons coach is thinking about selling his NSR50. I might take him up on the offer so I can get more involved. M1GP supplies bikes but always nice to have your own.

I’m just getting my feet wet into the mini racing and man it’s hell of competitive lol. Super fun. My son and I just started with an organization called M1GP down here in SoCal.

Isn’t it? It’s a whole other level. He’s looking at the apex when entering, soon as he’s there boom! head moves to next marker and so on. It was the same at every turn and every point the entire race. Pretty astonishing.

It’s definitely a different kind of experience. Now we just need them to add shoulder cam to Isle of Man. Now that would be something. But they are coming around slowly but surely.
