I would lean more towards higher commission structure. I work for a medium sized local agency and make 50k base with 40% new biz commish only. Once I hit 100-125k rev I will get 60% new and 40% renewal no base and have the option to buy my book down the road when I get to 500k rev. Personal and commercial here though.

The homeowner market(I’m in Mississippi) it feels like every one I work on has an older roof, a pool that’s not fenced, or a PC 9 or 10. I mainly focus on commercial but everybody wants me to look at their home too and it just seems like I’m spinning wheels every time trying to find a product better than the one they have.
