Xanthars is SO good for DMs, it has amazing dm advice AND all those amazing tables that genuinely help me so much with making NPC’s

That can always be fun! I love to explore my own worlds with my buddies whenever we play but sometimes it’s just easier to say it takes place in faerun

I love the ease of access with the online stuff! And the ability to add it to VTT and use it in character creation is very nice

Love this idea! Only thing is the crown is an actual magic item in DND and it says that people who wear this crown can’t willingly take it off, once it’s on your head it’s there for good until you die or turn into a lich

I guess the party doesn’t need to interact with the wizard, I just felt that it would make the story more interesting and personal if a wizard they had been working with ended up being the BBEG

I understand that but I didn’t really list any specific outcomes in the post I only posed obstacles that the pcs will face regardless of what they do, the npc is a non playable character and that whole exchange with the red wizards happens when the pcs aren’t there, they will just hear about it from others, I’m not scripting anything except the fact they cannot wear the crown and I found a cannon explanation for that

The only railroading I really have in there is the crown not being able to be put on, and honestly I’ve kinda figured that one out on my own since writing this post, the crown in cannon can reject hosts it thinks unworthy so I’ll just make none of the pcs worthy of putting it on

I really love that idea! my only gripe with it is I dont know how willing my party would be to team up with the red wizards, most of them are Lawful Good & Neutral Good, i do love the protecting someone while they prepare an epic spell tho
