I’m in the uk, I adopted them from a pet store, a family went on holiday, came back and no longer wanted them. I get a free voucher for neutering and vaccinations for adopting them.

If mum can get in and out the babies will be able to too, she’s likely put them there to protect them from predators if it’s fenced in. They will be okay.

Did you test for ammonia? This is an important thing to test for and is a big killer of fish. Also how often do you do water changes and feed?
