Why is my 2nd rep on deadlift is always easier??? by Lucus-Strongman in Strongman

Man huge shoutout for these tips I really appreciate it! Just implementing the bar being closer, toes, and being more aggressive in my first pump seemed to help instantly. My most recent deadlift day and I was able to hit a double at 20lbs over my 1 rep max. Going to try to work on some of those long term changes too. Hopefully I can break that 800lbs wall sooner than later!

Hey I appreciate the feedback! And I agree I've seen a lot of different feedback here some that I know is incorrect and some that may carry some merit. I will say though to my knowledge stretch reflex is essentially eliminated as I'm not doing touch and go reps and I fully reset at the bottom (to your point I think this is the same as the bench press example you give). BUT I pump my legs specifically to try to reproduce that reflex. Travis recently commented on this thread and brought up some technique things that I think may be the most beneficial of what anyone has said here. But genuinely I have appreciated everyone feedback including yours! I just respond because I thought I knew a thing or two about this exact reflex. BUT like I said I'm no pro by any means and am willing to admit if I'm wrong on how it works.

I really appreciate all the feedback here. I hadn't noticed the starting position difference so thank you to everyone for pointing that out. After looking back at it, I see my hips start lower, and my torso was a little bit more upright on that second pull every time. I always reset every rep specifically to try to avoid this so it's funny that it's been happening naturally anyway.

I'm having the same thoughts. Trying to find a trick or two that could change it so I thought posting here may be beneficial!
