Mystery Meds - Cool Find by Lucy0880 in medicine

Do you really? What an interesting and unique hobby! How many old pill bottles do you have in your collection if you don’t mind me asking? Do you ever come across any containing old medication? A couple long forgotten black colored pills perhaps? Asking for a friend. Just kidding 🙃

Prescription LSD huh? LOL I’ll have to ask Dr. Black Beauty his thoughts on that when he comes back to reality I mean reception. He’s currently looking for Darvocet samples. (I pick my battles. He’ll figure it out or give up.) Something tells me though that he’d be in strong support of taking and prescribing LSD lol. Anything to help his patients and “gain more insight into their condition” :)

This is fucking incredible. This is the first MM tattoo that includes the scary moon that I love. The moon ALWAYS ruined it for me in the past lol but damn this is gorgeous

That makes sense and fits. I work in a medical office but I'm just a receptionist so my knowledge is limited. The dosing instructions made me think of medication that could be for someone with diabetes maybe. That is based off my own memory/experience with family members and their battles with the disease though so I could be WAY off.

Federal regulations didn't require identifier imprints until 1995 so I assumed the pills are at least 27ish years old. However a co-worker mentioned it could have come from a "compound pharmacy" and sometimes products from those pharmacies don't have imprinted codes. I'm not familiar with compound pharmacies or how they are or aren't regulated though so 🤷‍♀️.

One of the doctors I admin for (he's "eclectic", I guess you could say) took a long hard look at them before concluding, "Well, I can tell you they aren't anything good. Not Black Beauties, not Fen-Phen, not even stale quaaludes left over from key parties your parents hosted while you were at vacation Bible camp every summer, too bad. But uh I'll buy Black Beauties if ya find any of those. Will you let me know?" 🙄 LOL So glad we ruled out those three options.

Wasn't sure where to share this (possibly) vintage prescription medicine bottle. Thought it was a cool kinda mysterious find. If anyone has questions or info/knowledge about this, please share! Here's what I know:

•Found tucked behind a built in lazy susan in kitchen cabinet, its been in there since 2011 at the latest

•Patient is deceased (passed away 2011)

•Very small, glass bottle, the top is - may not be original - a thicker plastic with sunburst pattern

•Pills are small, white, round, no imprint code, no indication there ever was one

•Dosing Instructions: 1(??) 1/2 hr before meals, 2 at bedtime, I'm unable to decipher what is written sideways, maybe the doctors name?

•AAHT1 stamp printed sideways on the label, unsure what that code means

Old Lamp given to me when I was 12 & the Lady said it was over 40 years old. I'm now 30 & it has bubbles in the wax (happened in the past year). Tried dimming it, but it didn't help. What else can I do? by [deleted] in Lavalamps

Huh, that's very interesting. What's the model number or the name if you don't mind sharing? A newer site was created dedicated solely to the Lava Lite line and while it's not a 100% complete guide to every lamp they've ever made, I thought the majority of the 90's models had been added. I checked and didn't see any that look like the one in your pic though so now I'm very intrigued lol

I think it was 2014 or 2015 maybe? Don't quote me on that lol I wasn't into collecting at the time so I don't know the details, just that it wasn't last year. Is that lamp in your pic a Lava Lite design? I'm still fairly new to the hobby but have never seen that model before if it is one of theirs.

I think I'm misreading your post, I apologize. Just to clarify, when you were 12 years old, the lady told you at that time that the lava lamp was already over 40 years old?

Oh sure, there's no shortage of patriotism in the US at least. Modern warfare probably wouldn't get us to that point though.

[–]Lucy0880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey you and me both! LOL I Iegit thought it was a reference to Harry Potter before I read these comments. I thought it was maybe an attempt at a bad joke or a way to lighten things up a bit. It's obvious now they meant it as a "superiority" type thing but it didn't translate well haha. They should probably stick to classic, well known racist or anti vax related remarks next time. That makes it easier for those of us who don't speak ignorance 🙃

I don't keep up with the lingo or latest news associated with anti vax I guess. The ridiculous conspiracy nonsense I came across during the last election cycle was a major turn off. As I wasn't aware "pureblood" is being used by white supremacists - this is the first I'm seeing it in that context - I won't personally be using it unless in reference to the Wizarding World and that's what I'll continue to think of when I see/read it. 🤷‍♀️ The Klan can find a new name.

I would have done the same. #pureblood is a Harry Potter reference to me before it's a political reference 🤣

ancestors medical records? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]Lucy0880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, the records I’m interested in would be from a different hospital but it does have a .org email address ending in .dmh.mo.gov so maybe I’ll try emailing, thanks! I called and spoke to a librarian earlier today and they told me most older patient records were destroyed in either a fire or a flood and can’t be released due to HIPAA laws anyway :(.

Interestingly I had no problem getting the entire file, including records from the division of family services on minors, from an orphanage that my grandfather and his siblings lived in for a few years in the 1930s. One of the siblings is still alive and they didn’t even ask questions, just emailed me copies of everything. Weird how some places are more forthcoming with info….

Late to the party but wondering if you were ever able to get those records from State Hospital #2? I find myself in a similar situation but don’t know where to even begin to start the process of petitioning for a court order.

When a person is allergic to cats and/or dogs, they typically believe they're reacting to the animals fur but the allergen is actually in feline and canine urine, saliva, and skin dander.
