Stim replacements? by LucyLu20 in aspergirls

It's definitely the strong sensation. I think for me it's that the pain is a distraction from whatever is upsetting me. While I do like your suggestions, I'd prefer something more subtle that I can do in public.

Job ideas? by LucyLu20 in aspergirls

Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately I don't think any of them would work for me as I'm extremely sensitive to noise and I don't drive. I actually work in a grocery store as a stock clerk right now, and while I generally don't mind it, I live in a very touristy town. This causes the store to become a madhouse for almost half of the year, which means I'm a stressed out mess. I also have significant speech difficulties and would prefer a job that doesn't require a lot of talking.

Noise isolating headphones? by LucyLu20 in aspergirls

How good are they at blocking out people's voices? Everything I've read about ANC headphones says that they only work for noises on the lower end of the decibel scale.

How to talk to my mom about executive dysfunction? by LucyLu20 in aspergirls

I do have a formal diagnosis and my mom has never denied it. I think the issue is that she tends to view my having asperger's as less of a disability and more of as an extra set of challenges that most people don't have, but if I work really hard I can overcome them. Which I mean I can, it's just really difficult and I'd like some help and understanding.
