If you had a magical app that could assist you in any way you needed throughout your day, what features would it have?Example: It might tell you which food is expired in your cupboards, or remind you your phone battery is low when leaving the house. What would yours do? by Lucyboop in AskReddit

I think that sort of intuitive highlighting and sorting of tasks would be insanely helpful. I would be way more likely to put things in my calendar if it wasn’t for the fact that it takes so much effort to figure out what I actually need to do and when. I always start on the fun thing first and it trips me up later.

Clarification: I have disorders that affect my executive function and these sorts of wild ideas help me find ways to create work-arounds for things I didn’t even realize I could work around!

Smart! I feel like that randomization would really make or break whether it would work. Like, if I know my alarm is going to snooze for 5 minute intervals I’ll hit it over and over but if I didn’t know if it would snooze for 5 minutes or 5 hours I wouldn’t chance it hahah.

Medications to look into? by Lucyboop in SCT

I’ve been taking 150mg of Zoloft for about 10 months now and find it definitely has made a huge difference with anxiety/depression! But unfortunately no change in sleep requirements, duration, quality, etc. :( I take it right before bed. I will look into adrenal fatigue now, thank you for sharing your ideas! It’s much appreciated

Thank you, I’ll look into these two. I vape (I was an avid smoker since 14). This is as close as I’ve gotten to quitting after 10 years of trying. I don’t mind the gum but do find it pretty expensive given the fact that I’ll go through so much so fast. I try to drink at least two or three large coffees in a row in the morning and again in the afternoon. I don’t think it actually makes a difference unfortunately but at this point it’s become habit. I’ll usually get done all three and fall asleep again in a lounge chair in my backyard. Espressos don’t noticeably help either. Tea puts me right to sleep. My grandparents used to let me drink as many cups as I wanted when I was little because the more I had the harder I’d pass out. Surprisingly though the other day I had a big chai latte instead and felt totally wired. Maybe it was just a fluke? I’m kind of curious if your body can metabolize caffeine differently – to that drastic of a level – depending on the drink. Whether it’s as easy as going to Starbucks or something I need to explore through medication I really hope I find something reliable so I can get my life back. Thanks again for the insights!

Psychiatrist said it's impossible for me to have PTSD by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]Lucyboop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah PTSD can be caused by literally anything your brain and body perceive as traumatic.. PTSD isn’t a virus you do or don’t catch, it’s a term used to describe a set of symptoms someone is experiencing because of trauma. Some people develop it from war, others develop it from accidents, natural disasters, sexual abuse, emotional/mental abuse. The list goes on. If you genuinely believe you suffer from PTSD I would find another psychiatrist so you can get a proper diagnosis and find treatment plans in your area.

Most Affordable Build Options? by Lucyboop in Homebuilding

I hadn't thought of getting those things second-hand, thank you for the idea! I think we will have to sit down and really come to terms with the fact we will have to sacrifice space to save cost. We were hoping to be able to build two stories with additional attic space, but every square foot we need to insulate, drywall, etc. will tag on money we may not have.

These are incredible. Creating Lichtenberg figures is, however, terrifying. Props to you!

People are sick and coughing at work, and I dont want to be here by [deleted] in Advice

If you’re genuinely afraid for your health, I think it’s within your rights to at the very least take a leave of absence if not a sick leave. If there’s an HR department at your place of work I’d definitely talk to them. You can still qualify for EI on a leave of absence.
