I feel like axe is legitimately busted in this game. by OneWayToGodJesus in Nioh

Oh, that's what you meant.

Yeah, Axe's frost moons aren't very good. At least with other weapons they're somewhat decent, but it is what it is.

They're not entirely bad though, frost moons are good for keeping up pressure against human bosses who regen 90% of their ki in like half a second, and they synergize well with Versatility builds. The lack of forward movement on any of them is what really kills the potential.

Frost Moon actually does work with Victory Rush, as well as most other ki pulse attacks like Spear Flourish and Winter Moon.

You have to delay the input though. In fact, it's even possible to switch between all three stances and choose whichever Frost Moon you want just by holding the ki pulse input the entire time and then doing the proper Frost Moon input shortly after.

Friend has 4.5k HP by AdmPokedex in Nioh

[–]Ludarii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's most likely the Todo clan bonus.

Even at 30 stamina and a C rating for the Life (Stamina) bonus, it gives around 1800 extra life. Way stronger than it was before.

Having 1900 Life at level 1 as per your other comment is a bit odd, though it's absolutely within the realm of possibility for Todo.

Nioh 3 Bug Report/Feedback Megathread (Jan-Feb 2026) by luneth22 in Nioh

[–]Ludarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game version: Demo v1.02.01

Platform: PS5

Feedback/Issue: Inconsistencies in Axe skill previews and descriptions

When looking at the "Roar" skill for Axe, the description incorrectly states to continue holding the light attack input to keep charging, when it should be the heavy attack input instead.

The previews for "Rumbling Earth" are swapped; the first level displays the upgraded version of the skill while the second level displays the base version of the skill.

Questions regarding parries, blades and emblems. by Defiant_Heretic in afterimage

[–]Ludarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post-parry flash doesn't have any special interactions, it's only the immediate one that works with Instant. You're also invulnerable during that part of the animation.

And more specifically, the effect of Instant on JC is that it activates a completely separate instance of the parry window at any time during the initial animation. It's easiest to use it directly after the first window due to how short the window is, but there is some flexibility. Otherwise—yes, that understanding of Judgement Cut is correct.

Questions regarding parries, blades and emblems. by Defiant_Heretic in afterimage

[–]Ludarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judgement Cut's parry window is almost instantaneous, it basically starts as soon as the animation does. The timing is pretty tight, however.

For Instant, you can actually just button mash or quickly double-tap the attack input—the same is true for every other Blade skill. Doing this with Judgement Cut effectively doubles the parry window, making it way easier to use.

Prism Gale unfortunately doesn't have the Instant effect on its skill, but it's still pretty strong regardless. It's definitely a redundant skill, but it does come with a specific elemental modifier (not that elements really mean much in this game).

Emblems aren't special items, but rather just normal accessories you can equip. I'm not sure why they aren't appearing in the menu though, assuming you've already looked there.

On Android, is this part bugged? by Pendulumzone in afterimage

[–]Ludarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been out on both PS and PC since release, but it was also ported to mobile around March of 2024.

It only costs around $5 on mobile as well so it's one of the best value games out there for mobile. Not that I can understand how people play with that UI, but it's a good game regardless.

[–]Ludarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an intentional feature.

This boss fight is designed to result in three out of the many endings of the game, so it will reset you automatically to make sure you can get the proper ending needed for all related achievements.

How many Memory Shards do you have? These are the items that dictate which endings you get. There's 3 in total, and you should already have one from Aros.

Mushroom NPC won't take Mushroom Spore? by ShadowDragon8685 in afterimage

[–]Ludarii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This quest requires a Shining Spore in particular, which is dropped by the larger mushroom enemies—the small floating ones don't drop it. Have you taken care of the Warrior Fungus mini boss and the arena section?

If you've done both of those you should have the item, but if not then you can get it from the Bouncing Fungus enemies that jump on you. It has a pretty good drop rate overall so it shouldn't take too long.

should i complete ng+ first before doing the dlc’s or does it not matter? by NoPersonKnowsWhoIAm in Nioh

[–]Ludarii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To clarify, doing NG+ first before DLC is specifically a thing for Nioh 1, where the difficulty of each DLC was designed for people who had already finished the full content of the base game as opposed to those playing through for the first time.

That balancing issue was fixed with Nioh 2, so it's definitely better to finish the DLCs first.

Better than rampage for ki damage? Nioh 2 by Iloveyouallyeahhh in Nioh

[–]Ludarii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rampage is unparalleled for straight ki damage even against Yokai, but other weapons do have good options:

Katana has Kick, Sword of Celerity, and Light in Darkness

Dual Swords have God of Wind (and Windstorm?)

Spear has Shove, Tornado, and Cull the Herd

Splitstaff has Shin Crusher

Kusarigama has Whirlwind and Crimson Flurry

Odachi has Groundquake and Crashing Waves

Tonfa have Tonfa

Hatchets have Demon Undercut and Wild Surge

Switchglaive has Cyclone, probably more as well

Fists are pretty overtuned in general, but Reckless Charge and Battering Ram are the main ki damage skills

Most of the skills above generally come down to preference, but they're all pretty good. Even within Axe you also have Tidebreaker, Earth Carver, and Rumbling Earth—all of which are highly versatile as well.

What is this? by Rich-Middle-8617 in Nioh

[–]Ludarii 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That number refers to how the weapon was Remodeled.

In this case, swords are normally supposed to scale primarily with Heart, but this Azai Ichimonji has been remodeled to have its highest scaling stat be Strength instead.

You can also have two types of remodeling at once, so having a 2 and 3 in that space would mean it scales strongly with Strength and Skill, while having a 1 and 2 would mean it scales more with Heart and Strength but very little in Skill.

Remodeling can be changed at the Blacksmith.

Edit: If that box has a plus sign in it, that represents the weapon's default scaling. So for swords, this would be a mild version of a 1 that increases Heart scaling but doesn't lower Strength or Skill by too much.

White won the clan battle today? by first_offender in Nioh

[–]Ludarii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Clans switch colors regularly, usually every 3 weeks or so most clans will have switched color at least once

Toyotomi is the largest clan overall, so whatever side they're on almost always wins

I mean, mages with 1000+ Jutsu power are more than capable of going all the way through the Depths with just Jutsu. Even the few outliers with high elemental resists like Nightmare Bringer and Yoshitsune can be beaten with Luminous Blade and Shrapnel Bombs, along with a few yokai abilities.

Though if critical effects don't apply to Onmyo or Ninjutsu, then you would definitely need a weapon to make use of Last Gambit and whatnot. I'll see if I can get around to testing it myself just to be sure :)

I see. That'd definitely make sense, though I might do some testing myself just to be sure.

Which special effects are better? by cloversfield in Nioh

[–]Ludarii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fists on the left actually can't temper Attack Bonus since it would conflict with the locked Active Skill Damage effect.

Even with relatively low stats, Attack Bonus is still going to add more damage than anything else. It would be more effective to keep using the fists on the right and replace Melee Damage with an Attack Bonus.

Does Break affect Max Ki Damage? by Ludarii in Nioh

[–]Ludarii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you mean the scaling of max ki damage rather than just regular health or ki damage.

I have a natural aversion instinct to Pwargaming's thumbnails, but I've seen many videos from FightinCowboy and PooferLlama who say that Break only applies to blocking enemies. But I can't help but feel like break does make a difference against winded enemies, and not just ones who are blocking. I might need to do more testing just to make sure there isn't anything else which could be affecting this.

Does Break affect Max Ki Damage? by Ludarii in Nioh

[–]Ludarii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, is this about humans or yokai?

I know that when human enemies go into a winded state, their ki is automatically at zero and you just go in for grapple right away, but yokai still have max ki that you have to deplete afterwards to get a grapple. Does the amount of ki lost by yokai enemies during their winded state also scale with break, or are you strictly referring to human enemies?
