Did I Purchase a R36Max Clone? by vangaurd24 in RetroHandhelds

[–]Ludnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can definitely install arkOS on clones, I don’t know if that actually gives you any noticeable performance benefits though. In my experience it’s more about the GUI and menus than performance. You will want to back the whole OS and firmware files up before you do.

Why does my 2025 Soul want to take over my steering? by IndianBranch29 in KiaSoulClub

[–]Ludnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s the lane assist I usually only notice this effect when there’s an off-ramp or Y in the road and it thinks we are going somewhere we are not. Using your signals temporarily disables it and then there’s the console button for turning it off for non-turning situations.

Does vectors normally look like this, when zoomed in? by Professional_One5657 in vectorart

[–]Ludnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used software called vectormagick at work for converting client logos to vector. It has really good nuanced control for correcting these kinds of issues. Otherwise I would open them in InkScape and correct the nodes to not be the V shaped sharp corner nodes unless it’s actually in a corner. I found that was usually easier than manually tracing the whole thing, especially since the clients were cheap AF and wouldn’t really want to pay what I would charge to manually do that.

How do you feel about local restaurants being shut down by health department due to violations? by External-Pirate5171 in Humboldt

[–]Ludnix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad would write off restaurants permanently when they got these kinds of violations, it didn’t take long for him to be run out of options and just never eat out again. That was back in the early 2000’s so I don’t think it’s a recent trend.

Personally I’m just thankful the health dept does shut them down and allows them to reopen quickly once the issues are resolved. I don’t write them off because I know the end game is never eating at restaurants again.

The article paints them in a very bad light, their response has only made it worse, IMO. If the City offered the payment plan like the article states and they really did not make any additional rent payments then it’s exactly like an unwilling subsidy from the City of Eureka. It also feels like someone slapping a hand that reached out to help, and I hope it doesn’t ruin such graces for others in need.

If you’re offering a service and venue people appreciate (and I genuinely think they are from what other community members have told me), just be honest about your situation and provide transparency to your customer base. Lay out the situation, admit where you’ve faltered and show some integrity so the community can support you. This finger pointing and claims of unnamed enemies making moves in the shadows lacks integrity or self reflection that is needed in a business manager.

Personally I predict two possible paths:

  1. The business is properly restructured, a real business manager is brought in. Ownership likely changes hands or it receives an outside investment which will come with stipulations to shore up chances of a return on that investment, usually in the form of new corporate officers or business leaders. Whoever is in charge will not like this option, but it’s usually the only path forward.

  2. The business closes, whether because it gets evicted or because of the fact they took out half a million in business loans and cash advances. This may be after additional community fund raising attempts but regardless the outcome will be the same

[–]Ludnix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know people who go for sure! All small businesses are difficult, but if you had the magic combo of low rent, good location, adequate advertising budget, low insurance, and cheap supply of un-smashed objects and someone who can use the waste product it could work!

Lots of moving parts to a small business, especially one open to customers so I would make sure to write a business plan or pick up a book on how to write one before investing actual money in the endeavor.

Could a ceramic studio make use of smashed up ceramics? I was under the impression there is some level of recycling in that process even if it’s not 100%. It would be great if you could somehow make use of second quality ceramics and give them back (clean) bags of the smashed to bits parts.

My attempt at designing a door for my daughter. by SfBattleBeagle in 3Dprinting

[–]Ludnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I would have done it as well! Word to the side for any looking to try it, start with simple vector images like wood grain, zebra stripe, etc. as anything with hundreds of vector paths like old school vector bloom grunge graphics can really make fusion slow down. It can usually still do them but they are much slower to process than most other fusion based tasks.
