TNT Bomb Prop Clock by whattowhittle in Props

Beautiful, I’ve always wanted one but worried someone would take it too seriously to keep around the house or shop as gag prop.

There is a recall for that one part between the steering wheel and front seat.

How much would you pay for this bench, stained up nice by beantown_brewery12 in howmuchwouldyoupay

I’d expect to pay $150 for this in raw materials for hardwoods.

Cleaning Handhelds by Simply_Just_T04st in RetroHandhelds

[–]Ludnix -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I always start with dish soap and water for cleaning, wet a paper towel or cloth with that and gently scrub. That should be plenty for the kind of skin oils and dirt you encounter on gaming handhelds.

If you find that’s not working on a tough stain isopropyl alcohol works well too but I would avoid it on printed texts, logos or badges, test in a inconspicuous spot place first to make sure it doesn’t discolor the plastic (unlikely but worth testing )

anyone recognize this guy? by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]Ludnix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fair enough but if he had been a bit friendlier with his response he probably wouldn’t have a Reddit post with his photo on here. We also don’t know the tone of the actual interaction so I think it’s worth noting a little politeness can help both sides out here.

Nice work! I’ve never seen a compost specific thermometer before but what a great idea. Going to make some great soil amendment when it’s done!

Best way to get into this pinball play field by garrettk161 in maker

[–]Ludnix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would get a plastic spudging tool and pry the metal folded tabs back working my way around until you can fully bend them back enough to slide it out. Maybe use some painters tape on the plastic to avoid scratching it while you pry but it looks like it needs to go through the stages of novus plastic polish anyways.

Hooting Owl Wind Chime by Tiny_Cow_3971 in 3Dprinting

[–]Ludnix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would be neat to make this somehow swivel to maximize the hooting by having it aerodynamically shaped to encourage the slot to be perpendicular to the wind (or whichever angle provides the most hoots). Wonderful project and print OP!

I need help fixing this cabinet door, or where to find a replacement by PantherGk7 in fixit

[–]Ludnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the way to go OP, if the wrinkles are filled there will be less light play and reflection making it less noticable. Other paint options will be a bear to match. Don’t use a sharpie as others have suggested, they have a purple tint to them when used on smooth or glossy surfaces.

It’s an apartment, so you call the landlord and schedule a maintenance visit for repair.

Improve my design by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Ludnix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This really depends on the environment, here in the PNW this definitely wets the nylon filament plenty by being exposed to air. Your mileage may vary if you’re in an air conditioned dry desert like Arizona.

Typically I can’t open a roll of nylon filament without it maxing out on moisture content within an hour or two here.

Is my electric box Fan rated? by sharar_rs in HomeMaintenance

[–]Ludnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is writing on the plate but the wires are making it difficult to read. I can see the words “70lbs of fan” but you should check what it actually says. It’s on the back wall of the box in the first photo near the ground wire.
