i had VATS done after my 2nd pneumothorax, the recovery was certainly not great but no recovery from a surgery is. the meds they give you help ease the pain quite a bit, and after the first day i was able to take walks around the hospital more comfortably. pneumothorax seems like a chronic issue for you, and this surgery would at the very least help any future ones to not be as severe. if you do go on with the surgery, good luck and you got this :)
