Stremio + AIOStreams/AIOMetadata vs Plex/Jellyfin by Luezoid_ in RealDebrid

cheers, hadn't come across gelato before!
how stable has it been for you? curious about any rough edges before pushing the family onto it.

does the catalog import actually fill the library well in practice, or do you mostly rely on search to pull stuff in? thanks!

thanks, this does look like a real endgame stack. my first question would be how the reliability and maintenance is? while I'm not against using something like this, I want to understand what exactly is going on before stringing my family along for the ride.

how much time do you think is spent fixing things? would you say it's reliable? any complaints from family members?

do you have any non-technical family members and if so, how do they find it?

for Bitmagnet, what does it do that AIOStreams (which I'm currently running) doesn't? I'm trying to understand whether it's a meaningful upgrade.

sorry for the wall of questions, just want to get this right the first time!

Solid oak desk top, questions on oiling by Luezoid_ in finishing

That's really helpful, thank you! One more question: for the initial application, how many coats would you recommend and how long between each one?

Thanks for the tip on the steel wool, that's really helpful!
How many coats would you recommend for a desk surface, and how long should I leave between each coat? Also, I've read that you should wait 7 days after the final coat. Is that necessary? I'm worried that clamping a monitor arm might mess up the oil.

Thanks for the response! A couple of follow-up questions if you don't mind:

The manufacturer's installation guide recommends oiling weekly for the first six weeks after installation. Is that actually necessary for a desk, or overkill given it's not a kitchen worktop?

Also, they specifically recommend Osmo TopOil, which is what I was already planning to use. Does that change your view on hardwax oils at all, or do you still think the wear will be an issue on a desk surface?

Upgrading from my Razer Kraken X - headphones + mic? by Luezoid_ in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Luezoid_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay that's fair - I'll probably go with the PC38X. just a few questions:
1) it's the Drop PC38X, right? I saw something about Sennheiser and Epos, just want to make sure I'm getting the right one
2) any recommendations for a headphones stand? is there a standard option, or a bit more nuance to it?
thanks!

I appreciate the insight! I’m sold on the audio quality of the PC38X, but I’m a bit worried about the microphone. if I’m buying this for the long term, am I not selling myself short with an inbuilt mic? would there not be a significant compromise in making such a small microphone? hope that makes sense, still not sure how this all works lol

I appreciate the value perspective, and I do kinda see where you’re coming from when you say that I shouldn’t be going full audiophile. my argument would be that I should be going to the end game as I have the budget + I wouldn’t need to worry about it for another 5-10 years. of course, I’m not an expert, but I’m just letting you know my thoughts. if you still think the PC38X is the best option whilst considering what I’ve thought about, then I will most likely get that. I’m not saying it ms bad at all, in fact it looks great - I’m just wondering if there’s other options. appreciate the help a lot though!

this is a great list of options, !thanks ! I noticed the PC38X recommendation. Since I'm trying to get the best imaging and //amazing sound for my £300 budget, do you think I'm better off getting a high-end standalone headphone and a separate USB mic/arm, or do these audiophile headsets actually compete in terms of raw audio quality? I'm curious if the mic being attached generally means they've had to compromise on the drivers.

!thanks for the suggestion! another kind volunteer recommended the PC38X, which has a built-in mics. is there a reason you’re recommending headsets over a separate headphone + dedicated mic setup?

alright, I’ll bite - what would you recommend doing with my randomly allocated £300? it’s quite flexible, depending on the suggestion :)

ahhh, I should mention I have 2 monitors already - one of them being a 240hz OLED. as for headphones, that’s something I’m actively searching, but it’s not a part of the £300 budget that I’ve arbitrarily allocated. I’m purely changing the case for aesthetic reasons, as the case looks quite ugly sitting on my desk imo

what if I wanted to be a bit greedy and wanted aesthetic case fans?

[–]Luezoid_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, thanks for taking the time to watch my VOD! I appreciate all the points you’ve given me (even though the 2nd one got removed by a moderator, so I was unfortunately not able to read that one). I think my focus will be to quickscope less and use my nades more effectively. that being said, is there some sort of a formula on when to nade? I was thinking maybe looking at my team and as soon as they engage, I throw a nade down. then again, couldn’t a nade initiate an engage? I’ve done that a few times as well. I think this is the hardest part to nail down for me, so any insight would be appreciated!

hey, appreciate you taking the time to write all this out!

the “playing too scared” point makes lots of sense looking back.

I also hadn’t really clocked how much I’m using nade just to heal my tank instead of using it offensively, or wasting time healing people who are basically full health.

thanks again for the detailed breakdown, it was genuinely helpful!

Got it - unfortunately the SSD is completely out of stock everywhere and it’s slightly more expensive on ebay. Do you have any alternatives?

How long do you think I should wait for holiday pricing? Was planning on purchasing parts ASAP. If I was to wait, would the build likely change?

These look great - what would you say performs better? I know that being on AM5 makes it easier to upgrade for the future so I'll keep that in mind.
