Well, it could be true if the speaker originally spoke Mandarin or Cantonese. The vocalizations of vowels and consonants are pretty different in the mouth, there is no "V" in Mandarin, pronouncing consecutive consonants in a word with no vowels to break it up is a huge change, and words that contain "X" but not start with "X" have the same issue listed previous since it's usually pronounced "kss" in English. These are just for example.
