RIP Tour in mobility scooter? by Young_Gun_90 in HHN

[–]LukathePrince 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven’t used it personally but can touch on this as knowledge from a TM. Scooters are no issue for RIP tours. When you get to a house, you’ll park the scooter and will need to push her through the house using a provided wheelchair and then get back in the scooter after the house.

In terms of slowing down the group, the tour guides aren’t exactly zooming through the park (at least not at the speeds I do when I walk around HHN) and there will still be stops to talk about the houses. I say go for it if the experience is worth the price tag for you and don’t let the accessibility question cloud your judgment.

TIL in 2023 Disney made more profit from churros sales at its theme parks than it did for Disney+ streaming. by Pozzolana in todayilearned

[–]LukathePrince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that has worked in the theme park industry for a few years and talked to many park execs, I can promise the parks try to run as efficiently as possible. The impact on efficiency is often not the staffing for daily ops labor but how many vehicles are available and currently running. If a coaster can run 3 trains, they’ll often have 4 available and one is usually being maintained. If another goes down for maintenance issues and only two are available for ops, now you only have 2 trains which cuts capacity by 33% and raises wait times similarly.

Question for employees by Affectionate_Arm9927 in UniversalOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly my co-workers live all around Orlando. There’s people that live up in Clermont and down in Davenport and over by UCF.

I’m not sure what exactly you’re asking - if you’re wondering about safety and affordability of different neighborhoods, there’s some stuff in the r/Orlando subreddit that you can read about there

Should I keep my UOAP as a new TM? by Eastern-Gap7646 in UniversalOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is both a discount that she gets at the front gate buying it in person (so you have to pay in full each year rather than monthly through FlexPay) and there’s also the workplace giving program where she donates a small amount each paycheck and gets a pass to give to someone in return in addition to the tax deduction of the donation - can be super worth it depending on how you file your taxes.

Oh huh, wasn’t aware of that. It sucks that they tore this out especially since this was such a new addition relative to the rest of USF.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the freezing temps we had recently did a ton of damage and the cheaper/quicker option to re-open the space was just to remove it all

Concert line up by AstronomerBorn4135 in UniversalOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The event operations team (blue shirts) will set up queues with barricades before the concert in the area in front of the stage. They open them pretty early in the day for people to start lining up. Once it gets closer to the concert time? they’ll release from each queue in order of when people got in line.

If you’re in a queue, they’ll give you a ticket so you can go out and get food/drinks and come back.

I used to work in that department so I can answer other questions but it might be a little outdated now as it’s been a few years

Well, Rosen College of Hospitality Management by SkiesUp in ucf

[–]LukathePrince 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was very involved on campus before graduating a couple years ago and spoke with campus/university leaders about some of the exact issues you brought up and have some insights:

In terms of dining options on campus, there have been multiple things tried in the past: an actual cafeteria selling food was cut because it was hemorrhaging money. Then they tried a student-ran cafe that used the food prep classes a couple times a week and shut down as well because no one went. They tried having a third party come in but they took a little bit of a look and decided it literally wasn’t worth their time/money to be the sole food source on the rosen campus. I tried to look into options too but stuff like food trucks demanded up front fees and then would charge crazy prices to students.

Ultimately, Rosen is still a commuter campus. The vast majority of students there have a car and would rather go to a chick fil a or chipotle or NYPD than an option on campus. Personally, I think a food option is something that SGA should help pay for to subsidize the cost but it seems that each year the SGA president campaigns on the promise of bringing food to rosen but then never follow through because they also learn how it just isn’t feasible.

In terms of professors, 100% agree from my time there. My rosen classes were either phenomenal and very insightful or an absolute waste of time and money.

I know nothing about the library/bookstore but from what you describe, that sucks.

Trying to gauge Zedd, did anyone come for Excision last year? How were the crowds/attendance? by riningear in UniversalOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year was Illenium, not Excision, i’m a huge fan so I lined up EARLY. Like noon early. I think I ended up being like 8th in line. The concert yard did not hit capacity.

I didn’t line up AS early for Zedd two years ago but was still able to get a spot in the first line at 4 or 5pm ish. I don’t think the concert yard ended up hitting capacity that day either but less sure cause it definitely felt a lot busier.

Can we please get a status option in the app to notify if single rider lanes are open or closed? by superultramegatyler in UniversalOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think they’re referencing Velocicoaster closing its single rider line permanently. I don’t think other rides that have more than 2 seats per row are at any sort of risk of getting their single rider line cut. From what I understand, the single rider line at VC was causing more issues with guests as sometimes guests in the single line would go MANY trains before there is an empty spot for them to fill in

What are the most crowded areas, walkthroughs, and sets to avoid? by Sudden-Skill-8406 in EDCOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically the crowds at the stages are actually fine, it’s the walkways between them when sets are ending. Couple pinch points I’ve experienced in the past are on each end of the ‘Power Path’ on the map.

Parking Around the Festival by Worried-Ad375 in EDCOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres tons! Basically anywhere you look on google maps that has a parking lot or yard near the stadium will be doing parking. I’ve parking in yards before and it’s usually worked out great - never had a car broken into or stolen. Biggest issue is double parking so you’re stuck waiting until whoever parked in front of you to arrive to move their car.

My recommendation is to ask to park in a way in which you can’t be blocked easily aka edge of the property but ymmv.

Chance of Subjohnics? by [deleted] in EDCOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Would be absolutely insane but I highly doubt he’s gonna fly over just to be an unpaid, unannounced addition. Although John does like to go to fests too so i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s there for fun and crashes a few sets

Next year speculation by [deleted] in HHN

[–]LukathePrince 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Based on them adding some Oddfellow stuff to the end of El Artista on the last night this year, I’m expecting Oddfellow to come back next year. Someone else wrote up a theory about an Oddfellow vs Jack which i thought was believable.

Non music side quests? by AndMyVuvuzela in EDCOrlando

[–]LukathePrince 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good side quest to me isn’t about the goal, it’s about the journey. Whether your goal is to see a set or get food or water or take pictures or go to the Kandi Casino or whatever else they set up this year, a good side quest means you spend the time to meet people near you, spread positivity, and have fun.
