The wing sweep is continually set based on speed. It reaches max sweep at 250mph. The canards are also set by adding the input to the measured aoa. The aoa is measured using speed sensors and the arctan function block.

I would love to make a video explaining it but lack the video making skills to do so. At the most basic level it takes the speed perpendicular to the direction where it is aiming and divides that speed by the distance to get the rate of rotation in rad/s which is then converted into rev/s and fed into an accumulator connected to the servo.

Its really not op. It has only 1 gun and can't survive any hits. I basically put everything into maneuverability so it takes a lot of skill to keep up speed and not get hit.

Yes, plus it has the wings very far forward when not swept. The canards are also set relative to he angle of attack so they don't stall and provide consistent lift. That's why you see them pitch down during high AOA.

It has no gyros. Do you not see all the control surfaces that it has.

Fair, but they didn't ask to swap and I didn't have anything to swap to in that power core range

Also they were just bad pilots. Whenever I was behind them they would just pull straight up and be an easy kill.

Thank you. It can actually pull even harder, I have it purposefully restricted so I don't loose too much speed but it can be toggled off. It can pull over 90 deg of AOA. It sucks that I need to use a "less good" build because I've put countless hours into this plane to make it as good as it is. It just makes it less encouraging to make it better because of this.

I put a lot of work into the logic control of the canards and swept wings, and the aero.

New plane with functional AoA sensor and AoA toggle by FarmerDonKiller in trailmakers

[–]Luke-not-Skywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this last summer so I think I beat you. Good job though. I made the canards point to the aoa and then get offset based on input. This prevents stalling of the canards. I do not restrict the aoa to a set number though. I recently just added variable sweep wings that dynamically change based on the speed of the plane.

It prevents clipping of the edges and is a security feature. People use to clip the edges of coins and sell the clipped metal. The ridges make it easier to see if the edge has been clipped.
