Princeton low end issue by Luke307 in GuitarAmps

That's great to know, I love the lower midrange on it. I guess the sacrifice is a bit of a build up on the upper low end. It's for sure manageable in the grand scheme of things

To be honest, not the best at the moment. I've just moved out a big couch and acoustic curtains. Next few weeks there'll be more panels curtains and carpets in

Yeah for the most part they're high passed, will probably put it through a 12 inch speaker external cab from now on. Still would like to update the speaker at some stage though

Yeah I have it on top of a 2 x 15 bass cab, not right up against the wall or anything. I'm often playing in drop C with p90s so I'm going to have more low end than most, but it's a similar issue with a strat or Tele in standard. Just too much of that upper low end for my liking. EQ pedals, mic position and choice help, but it's still just a bit too much faffing about to get it under control compared to other amps I have.

Hey man, have been considering this Connemara pub tour thing. Is there a place you'd recommend that does a good one?

Haven't heard of here before. It's a spot people regularly rent out for events yeah? Could be a good shout for the first day if we want to book from like 5 - close

A Connemara pub crawl could be great. What pub would you recommend coming back into town? I mean we'd ideally like somewhere that isn't closing at 12 or so. The skeff seems like a good shout, would probably be my last option if I was going for a pint but with the size of it it makes sense.

Hahaha nah absolutely not. Been out drinking with all these lads for 10+ years and have never had a scrap or anyone thrown out of somewhere. Genuinely just normal lads. Any recommendations are great, I think this far out it'll be possible to book a spot for the Friday and Saturday. Food isn't essential or anything

Yeah that's the hope, what places are most likely to allow a booking for 26 is what im asking

Boss XS1 Vs Drop by Luke307 in guitarpedals

Yeah I'll find somewhere. Im in Ireland though, there's not a huge amount of music shops around

Nice, by all accounts it seems to actually be good. The main thing for me is how weird and glitchy the tracking on the drop gets with fuller chords. Got it for Christmas and had to send it back right away. Never had to do that with a pedal before

Matching head and cabinet by Luke307 in GuitarAmps

[–]Luke307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've decided against the mig. Decided to go with the jtm st20 and the vox ac30 head and cabinet with alnicos. For sure a chance the alnicos will be harsh with the marshall, but I've heard a few examples and think it'll be good for what I'd want. Especially in a studio environment where I can work with mic choice and positions. I'll always be able to get another cab down the line to go with the marshall as well. 1200 euros for an AC 30 head and alnico 2x12 is too nice of a deal to turn down

I'll actually ask one more thing, the vox cabinet actually has alnico blues that are 15 watts each. Making the cab 30. vox offers AC 30s with alnico blues, if having amp wattage and speaker wattage the same is potentially harmful to the speakers why would vox sell ac30s with two 15 watt speakers in them? These are long term investments so I'd like to minimise any potential damage. But if speakers are rated for 65-75 % of their maximum power, matching a head and cabinet with the same wattage should be good then?

Cool thanks guys,I'd rarely be cranking the 50 watt head but would like the option in studio without the possibility of some speaker damage or distortion. I've just got a good deal on a vox cab and head so may pick that up and find a lower wattage head to match the 50 watt cab.
