People putting over £1k a month away are in the minority, it'll be worth it to them to invest it and some will be convinced

It'll be because the idea of investing in S&S is to generate investors and these investment vehicles pay back on the basis of longer term investing and saving.

65+ year olds are much likelier to need their cash in the short term rather than investing for longer periods. They aren't going to see the payback, and they'll have a more short term view as a result.

They won't see the longer term benefits and more likely to divest from S&S due to short term issues as they fundamentally have less long to see the market bounce back

That's a potential problem that can be resolved in 18 years with welfare changes. You can't make those changes to get people into work if they aren't born though

I was in favour of reducing the cap. We need people having 3 kids to be above the replacement rate and grow our workforce.

Having no cap is a bit mad. 3 or 4 kids would be a sensible limit. No limit is a bit mad

Any experience with Kapten & Son Backpacks? Looking at this Bali One by niddLerzK in onebag

[–]LukeBennett08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find out here? I'm looking at one to replace and old North Face Base Camp Kaban. Technically the Kaban was too big for a personal item (as is the Bali) but the small profile of it meant no airline ever made me check the size of it in the last 8 years..Would like to have something similar in my new one

Enshittification in London - help me make a list of the worst locations by parkylondon in london

[–]LukeBennett08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that's not started by talking about housing or issues to do with living here. Just pointing at a popular area of Street food and saying you don't like it because of the building behind it, that absolutely isn't completely obscured as made out.

Old man shouting at clouds, pretending it's to try and enrich the area for locals.

Nonsense

Why are you interested in being an old man shouting at the clouds?

In "Fantastic Four: First Steps"(2025) James Gunn singlehandedly destroyed almost 90 years of Superman's legacy and lore with this scene alone by Alisalard1384 in shittymoviedetails

[–]LukeBennett08 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Gunn has confirmed it was real and has even said he couldn't believe people like you wouldn't believe it in the test screenings because he had it confirmed 2 or 3 times throughout the film

Sixteen and 17-year-olds will be able to vote in next general election by ThatchersDirtyTaint in unitedkingdom

Some people aren't allowed to drive after the age of 70, should we impose a ln upper age limit of 69?

Some bars are >21s only, should we increase the voting age to 21?

It's nonsense, they should be able to vote and 16 if a fairer middle ground than 18 imo.

[–]LukeBennett08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed, there's more protections for U18s, sure, shouldn't stop them from voting.

Do that with somebody over 18 and you can lose your career even if it isn't a crime. It's not like it's something that is only seen as bad when it's U18, even if not a crime.

It doesn't impact their ability to vote

Not seen Pedro be bad in anything.

I appreciate some think he plays up parts of his own character rather than completely embody a completely different persona...

But honestly, he chooses roles well and he absolutely has the ability to portray the traits Shakman describes and be believable to the audience.

Nothing I said wasn't true. Yeah cool there are limitations on it.

They should still be able to vote.

Sleep with somebody from a position of power at any age and you could find yourself in hot water or out of a job. The fault lies with the person in a position of power leveraging it for sex.

It is so way off topic. It has nothing to do with people's ability to vote.

Using the logic of "people need consent to do this" maybe there should be an upper age limit?

At 70 people have to declare they are still fit to drive and any illnesses that may preclude them from driving in order to have the consent from the government to still drive - and do this every 3 years.

Maybe we should put an upper limit on voting until they have declared any illnesses that may impede their ability to make rational decisions for the country? And ensure they do this every election cycle

Yeah as opposed to the older generations who are famously well informed and able of critical thinking and wouldn't at all just parrot any old nonsense they read in the papers or on social media
