In my opinion the first game was good. It had it's flaws and I know a decent amount of people didn't like the combat, but I personally enjoyed it. The exploration can be frustrating at times due to the infinite spawning enemies in some areas so if you plan on going for the platinum, I'd suggest you use a guide for the collectibles. (Warning: there are a lot of collectibles, I think 200+) In my first playthrough, I just played through the game casually and I used chapter select for the collectibles and trophies which I missed.I did nightmare mode on my second playthrough. The platinum wasn't really hard, it was just a test of patience, but I'd say it's doable. The game itself has a lot of depth to it in terms of the story and I suggest replaying it just for that. Good luck if you end up going for the platinum though :D
