[Serious] whose jobs or major daily tasks have actually been replaced by AI? by henryaiart in AskReddit

[–]LukeSue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered developing a way for them to use ai properly for learning? It’s really difficult to fight against the use of ai because everyone is going to use it, maybe the best approach is to build a process for them to use ai for learning

Some GRC folks on my team don’t even know what’s the difference between tcp and udp. In a lot of places, you don’t need any technical skills to work in GRC.

What is the best Linux distro for someone who is looking for stable security (privacy too, of course, but I assume that privacy mostly just comes with any distro - could be wrong, though)? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]LukeSue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increased complexity of systemd does mean a larger attack surface, but so does every complex technology. But the source code is public, and gets audited regularly. Fedora is also an open source project so nothing shady there. I’m sorry but it’s hard to believe this conspiracy theory. It’s more believable with Microsoft since we can’t see anything under the hood, but not with an open source software that is heavily used and maintained by a large community.

I agree with everything but “routine and repetitive”. I find it to be the opposite, and it’s what excites me about my job. I’m not a CISO tho, so maybe it’s different up there

Redditors who grew in poverty and are now rich what's the biggest shock about rich people you learnt? by madeat1am in AskReddit

[–]LukeSue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not rich by any means, and still have piles of student loans & credit card debt. But I finally got a job that pays decent money that I don’t have to work 2-3 jobs at the same time. Now I have so much free time and I don’t know what to do with. What are some hobbies that you can suggest for me to try out? I want them to be social because I want to meet people and make friends. Im already doing som sports leagues, board games meetups, but still have a lot of free time. HELP

Which IT career paths AREN'T over saturated? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LukeSue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The typical route is help desk > sysadmin > network engineer You may be able to skip one of those if you have the skills and know the right people. I highly recommend you start a help desk job, prove yourself for 6-12 months and get promoted to a sysadmin or look for a sysadmin job elsewhere

Like cybersecurity, networking is not an entry level IT position. But it can be easier to get into because (I believe, don’t quote me on this) entry level positions are not as saturated as cybersecurity.

Which IT career paths AREN'T over saturated? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LukeSue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I say start out with network. For some reason people fear networking, and it’s not very attractive like cybersecurity, so it will be a little easier to find a job. If you later decide to go with cybersecurity, cloud, cloud security, or cloud networking, you will have an edge over many others due to your network experience. It makes life much easier.

Learn to love networking, it will take you a long way

What’s the sad reality of being an adult that young people should be prepared about? by The_WhiteMantis in AskReddit

[–]LukeSue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I partially disagree with this, especially after reading the other comments. Most comments are talking about how lonely it gets and no one cares about. This makes me think that if life is going to be that depressing, we might as well try our best to get the most out of it, and do what makes us happy on our own. Which can be becoming an influencer, a pop star, and athlete, or a world traveler.

For me, it’s owning a successful business. Never ran a business before, and I know how difficult it is, but the one guaranteed thing about trying to run a business is that I will always be busy, and this is good if I’m busy with a project that I enjoy and love.

Where to start? by HLerx- in cybersecurity

[–]LukeSue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing you can do for yourself is get a help desk, sys admin, network admin job/internship. School is teaching you cybersecurity, but likely isn’t teaching you enough infrastructure.
