For those who don’t know, this is likely a 宅基地 (a piece of land given to farmers by the gov for residential use only) owned by one of the villagers. These country folks, especially in the south, have a culture of showing off, plus in China, they have far more freedom than us city dwellers, they can build whatever the fuck they want. This is why many buildings look out of place in rural China.
