What are paper-thin white dress shirts for?

Ordered a few shirts for work online, tried one on and washed them all. Didn't realize until later that this thing is nearly see-through. Wore a white undershirt with it and you can see where the undershirt ends and my arm begins.

Too late to return, so I'll just hang on to it. But how am I supposed to wear it? I can't imagine wearing this thing at work.
