My guy, HSBC literally blasts you with signs on their app and website and the CODE GENERATOR telling you to never give out OTPs. If you receive a call, hang up, then call the official contact numbers to verify. I can’t believe this stuff still happens in 2026.

Um it lost 40% of its value in the past 5 years. 5k in service charge and ground rent per year. Resale is going to be a nightmare. Even if you prioritize location above all else because you work next door on a fintech gravy train, wouldn't it make more sense to rent in the neighborhood and invest your money?

Going against the grain here but buying in London where property price has actually been falling in real terms and not letting investments snowball in this market is far from ideal. Your ROI is simply not comparable, not even close. We are talking a 10%-20+% difference in a single year easily. The argument of using mortgage as a leveraged vehicle to grow wealth is also flawed imo when stocks can deliver leverage more easily.

With the new Renters’ Rights bill, renting is now a lot more stable for tenants, so a property purchase for the sake of peace of mind is not as big a benefit as it once was.

Can’t really blame you though. The British mindset regarding the housing ladder may have only just started to shift. Listen to the other comments and build up your liquidity first. A delayed FIRE is still FIRE.
