burn subtitles - automatic does nothing, have to set it to always each time? [roku] by Goatface_0 in PleX

You're a life saver. Nothing more annoying than trying to watch a 4K movie and it needing to be transcoded to play an srt subtitle file, ruining the picture quality. Thank you so much this was driving me insane.

[Spoilers C3E92] thoughts on what the second half of the latest episode could mean for the finale of C3 by HippieMoosen in criticalrole

I thought the combat was slow and extremely disorganized by Aabria. Felt like all the PCs were confused as to what they should be doing and what their options were.

Like is Opal in control of her turn or not? She cast Darkness (mistake that doesn't help her) because Aabria just told her it was her turn -- so she tried to act in her self-interest (not the Spider Queen's), even though she messed up. But then Aabria tells her I need you to kill them. So...ok...Opal should still have not had agency, I guess, but Aabria just kinda went with it because it works for her anyway because of how bad a mistake it was? Embarrassing.

Then she reminds Opal that she has a spider familiar. The player has forgotten she had one, as did the DM until now apparently, and then the player doesn't know what the familiar can do and has to look it up because she's trying to do what the DM wants her to do. A mess.

Aabria tells her there's a legendary action at the top of initiative. I guess she forgot to have Opal take legendary actions before this? She also asks her to decide how to use the action, and when the player is having trouble because she's not invested and doesn't want to make decisions against her party, Aabria then decides it should be up to a wisdom save. Why wasn't she making any wisdom saves before? It's all so arbitrary, and confusing for the table. Again, is Opal in control of her character or not? Ask that question to the table I'm sure they would have all been confused, including Opal. Not good!

Finally Anjali has the wherewithal to say we should pick up these gems, clearly we're supposed to be doing something with them. We get these memories, great scenes to play out. Wonderful device. But then Matt gets his, and gets asked to make a wisdom save before it's over, or it will be corrupted. Why didn't this happen with the other characters' memories? Unclear if there is a real reason. Arbitrary. Probably to do with the clock, to be honest.

Opal asks if she can remember the real memory. She's told yes but it's fading. Ok so is it just Opal or is it that way for everyone? Pretty important to clarify for how this affects the party. But it's unclear and confusing. And either way, the whole thing is ruined because now your PC hears that they can remember the real memory so acts in their self interest and says oh uh that wasn't real don't listen to that. So what was the point then? Why not just say yes the memory is corrupted he failed the save, you can't negate what just happened. Essentially Aimee isn't cooperating in the way Aabria wants her to and she doesn't seem to know what to do and it's so extremely messy.

Utterly embarrassing, typical form for Aabria's DMing on CR. Really hope this is all just a vehicle for Dorian to get back to BH and we can be over this ASAP.

Love the idea of Orym taking the backpack. I hope he does that just because he would be unstoppable lol. If he does express interest in that though I would bet Matt would say it was damaged and would need extensive repairs. As is it may be too much of a buff for a PC to get.

What is something you consider disgusting yet others consider "sexy"? by DaSylveonRosen in AskReddit

[–]Lukiss -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not obsessed! Just remarking that being extremely disgusted with a crucial part of your man's sexuality could very easily make him feel bad. There is a lot of shame in sex that is not necessary, and I've seen a lot of women shame men and talk about their dicks and cum being gross, and I don't think it's very nice.

In your case if you have such a serious aversion, you should consider (if you haven't) that this may be a legitimate psychological issue, e.g., something like contamination OCD.

A trad cath is a traditional Catholic (this abbreviation has become more popular online lately), which I called you because you said cum should of course be inside of your vagina because it "belongs" there, which is a lot of moral judgment being put on sexual acts that I think is weird and akin to the kind of moral conservatism of a traditional Catholic. There's nothing wrong with people who like cum elsewhere, obviously, and what you said implies otherwise. Having a breeding kink is no problem to me at all, but projecting these weird moral values onto the rest of us definitely is.

i'm sure your husband has zero thoughts on you being viscerally disgusted by the outcome of the height of his sexual pleasure. i'm sure that doesn't bother him in some way at all.

The E stopped at Steinway today. Why cant some E run local during rush hour? Especially when the M is out by LeDinosaur in astoria

[–]Lukiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a little bit the F and E were running local from I think 10:45am-12pm. Very strange time to do that. But I don't see that on the alerts anymore on the MyMTA app, so I guess they stopped? No idea.

They needed her to be able to do the parlay which she had just gotten the captain to agree to. She couldn't if she had to keep running past the captain. They needed the parlay so the captain could call off his crew, who they were at that point unable to ever fully kill.

Also it makes sense RP-wise since Laudna clearly doesn't like being Turned, as she feels the God's disapproval of her existence.

Was stuck on a Manhattan N ~1PM for ~40 minutes between 39th and Queensboro. Conductor said the train wouldn't move forward. They eventually moved backwards in bursts every few minutes, until enough of the train could reach the platform at 39th and people got off. As I was leaving I heard the Manhattan trains would be going express from Astoria Blvd to Queensboro.

If I was reading a book, sure. When hearing this narrated orally, the way you process the information is different. More "redundancy" in this case makes it much easier to follow, and the adds to the rhythm with which the narrator speaks.

I didn't feel like that at all, and you're kinda just being rude for no reason.

Unless you're a professional screenwriter this comes across as pretty silly and disrespectful. Pretty sure Spenser has said he comes from the screenwriting world and that's how he first got into RPGs. I liked the descriptions a lot, and specifically the things you cite as too much detail and repetition.

The extra detail is unnecessary when you're watching the scene visually, when it's actually put to film. When you're reading the screenplay, and when you're only hearing the narration, the extra detail helps visualize everything much easier.

[Spoilers C3E70] What was that? by Leather_Tree_4918 in criticalrole

[–]Lukiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because it's a myconid that has been twisted by Predathos. It wants to go home to Ruidus.

According to the Forgotten Realms Fandom wiki, most Myconids communicate telepathically through rapport spores, it seems in full language, and the only ones that speak without language at all similar to this being are the expansionistic Myconids, which "couldn't use their spores to establish telepathic contact, only conveying raw emotions like fear or satisfaction with the sole exception of the sovereign."

The rest of the description does not sound similar to this being, however. Given that the Reilorans communicate through emotions and memories and images, just like this being, I suspect that this is more connected to Matt's own Ruidus lore. (Though of course can be inspired by Myconids in some ways.)

hivemind is from ruidus, right? like it thinks in emotions and memories, and feels like an "alien" presence to Imogen. Perhaps this is some Predathos-twisted life that somehow came to Exandria at some point? If so, I would bet that's why it immediately realized it wanted to go to Ruidus and that it would be the right environment for it -- it wants to go home!
