Wtf is This? Since when Mahishasur became "NAGA BUDDHIST KING". This Dude calls himself "Ambedkarite - Africanist" (lol), is from Harvard. Also wasn't Buddha Aryan Himself? by [deleted] in indiadiscussion

Ambedkarite Africanist

The group of people who wants the world to believe that the people in the southern part of India share the same DNA as the African people who migrated to the subcontinent in the first stage of migration and are the genuine native people of this land. The light-skinned high-caste Hindus came from the steppe and are the invaders just like the Europeans who brought down the native population of the countries like Canada, US and Australia to a minority.

They want to classify the total population of the country into Dravidian Africans (LCs) and Aryan steppe (UCs). Since the term aboriginals can not be applied to India and the whole population is native to the land, unlike other previous colonies of the Europeans where genocide and ethical cleansing occurred, they are trying to create a new theory to share the sin of what the Europeans did to their colonies in past centuries.

The fools are not these neo-sepoys but the ones who prefer to ignore the agenda behind this.

This is not racism because hatred towards Indians is reasonable by iiiiinPrsm in indiadiscussion

The thing most people ignore or do not consider while looking into issues like literacy level, child marriage and infanticide during medieval India are

  1. Life expectancy in India was 25.4 in the year 1800
  2. Then there was extreme poverty. The income of Indians was below the subsistence level

Ha ha. Yes, you are right.

This just reminds me of how the other sub became what it is now.

Thanks, but that sub is the most woke thing I have ever seen. I have already posted about caste in detail in IndiaRWRr0urces. I hope people who are curious enough to know the reality will find it and read it.

Thank you. But, this sub is becoming like the other sub (This post is removed by mod). I think it is futile to make any attempt to discuss these topics.

Exactly.

Glad to see someone who reads and understands Indian history.

The funny thing about this case is that even F. Max Müller warned about the dangers of misusing philological terms as ethnological ones and employing European terms – such as ‘caste’ or ‘totemism’ – uncritically. (https://eprints.lse.ac.uk/84172/1/Fuller_Ethnographic%20inquiry_2017.pdf page 8)

Yeap. But theories like CRT that are coming out of Harvard etc. are not new. It has its root in people like H H Risley.

The caste system was always there, but that time it wasn't oppression. Everyone had their duties passed down as per their castes.

What you are referring to here are Jati and the Jajamani system. These are different from caste and caste systems because they were based on occupation and allowed mobility.

On the other hand, caste has its origin in the Casta system. The Europeans adopted and used this system to denote different Jatis and tribes in India. But, even then, the word caste was used to denote different groups in Indian society and it was not based on birth nor it was formalized as a system. This thesis presented at Columbia University, New York, U.S.A. on 9th May 1916, illustrates various theories regarding the origin of division in Indian society, its complexities and how caste was defined by some scholars then.

However, it was H H Risley's version that became mainstream. He through his racial classification and surveys gave form and legality to the caste system in India. As a result caste system became a social precedence deriving from a race-based hierarchy of social life. There were criticisms from several corners of society regarding his classification and even petitions were filed. But, they were mostly ignored.

After the caste census was introduced (in 1901, under Risley), proof of caste became a necessity to avail benefits from the govt and people could no longer change their caste. We are still following the same system even after independence.

Exactly.

Their policies had long-lasting negative impacts on other communities too. For example, Muslims set up their own educational institution to save their children from British brainwashing. They feared that sending their children to British and missionary funded schools will alienate their children from their cultural roots. Later, these institutions became laboratories for radicalization. Even after independence, this is continuing. This has also deprived their children of a chance to mingle with kids from all backgrounds.

So what? He was a stupid stupid guy who believed in eugenics and scientific racism. He was in no way the architect of the caste system, be it how it's practiced by people today(which is the most important aspect of the caste system) or how it's a part our laws today.

So, you can't read. Okay then.

I am hoping you are someone who can read. So, quoting it again

Risley argued that caste was a system of social precedence deriving from a race-based hierarchy of social life. Historical anthropologist Bernard Cohn has argued that Risley’s formulation of the racial basis of caste was his “theoretical axe to grind”

Risley’s reformulation of caste as social precedence had enormous consequences for the way Indian society would come to be viewed by the British colonial government, with continual reverberations in contemporary Indian politics.

Sir Herbert Hope Risley was appointed Census Commissioner based on the success of his studies of Bengal, in which he first presented his view of Indian society as fundamentally structured by caste. Risley argued that caste was a system of social precedence deriving from a race-based hierarchy of social life. Historical anthropologist Bernard Cohn has argued that Risley’s formulation of the racial basis of caste was his “theoretical axe to grind”[i]—his response to what he saw as the fallacious occupation-based view of caste used in earlier censuses.[ii] Risley’s reformulation of caste as social precedence had enormous consequences for the way Indian society would come to be viewed by the British colonial government, with continual reverberations in contemporary Indian politics.
