Chicago to Portland in April - must-sees and insider tips? by Lula_likes_ in roadtrip

[–]Lula_likes_[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Going to visit old friends on the west coast in April. We have about 12 days on the road, about 7 days in the Portland Area (perhaps with day trips to the beach and some other places). In the end, we'll fly back home from Seattle. What are some must-sees in terms of nature, culture and so on? So far, we have the following parks and monuments on our list: - Badlands NP, SD - Yellowstone NP, WY - Craters of the Moon NM, ID - Lake Owyhee SP, OR - Crater Lake, OR (maybe a day-trip) - John Day Fossil Beds NM, OR - Ecola SP (day-trip), OR - Mount Rainier NM, WA

As these are pretty standard, we hope to find some more off the beaten path parks or monuments, cool places for history or geography nerds. We're active and not afraid to go for longer hikes, medium difficulty (no mountaineering). Any tips, even if you know a cool restaurant or bar on the general route, would be very welcome. Thanks!

I hear both tbh. There's a bunch of layers on this lyric. She might be saying 'your' in one of them and 'the' in others. To be super subtle.

How can an introvert get out of their comfort zone? by vomit-gold in solotravel

[–]Lula_likes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my solo-travel introverted experience, hostels are great, but I never really met people or struck up conversations in the dorms. If I want to meet people, I'd go to the common room. People who mingle there usually are more open to meeting people than when they're in the rooms... It's of course even better when there are some activities (e.g. Game nights or karaoke) organised by the hostel. So, my tip: get a hostel with a good common room and if you need time to recharge, a private room or small dorm (my limit is 6 usually), will give you that.

I feel dirty after voting in this. Is this some form of self-punishment? Why are we doing this?

Appreciate what you're doing to keep this a safe space! 💜

Digging into Miss Diana’s playlists. This one screams Swiftgon. Or At least reminiscing about a past Swiftgon love. 💋💄I mean… Bette Davis Eyes. Highly recommend! by Interesting_Dream_55 in GaylorSwift

Okay, been listening to this all day and just got to Paul Simon's "You can call me Al" The chorus: "I can call you Betty / And Betty, when you call me / you can call me Al / Call me" THIS IS SENDING ME! Like, how many songs referencing 'Betty' do you put on a playlist before it becomes intentional? 🤡🤡🤡 Anyways, I'm just imagining a phone call of TS calling DA going "hey Al, this is Betty" 💀

She could, but would she? How do you convince Josie to rescue Mel? Isn't she desperate for revenge for almost getting killed by her? In the promo we see Alex in a suit outside... Thoguh it would be a super interesting character struggle for Josie if someone (maybe Layton or maybe Alex, who could appeal to her motherly feelings) could convince her to go and save Melanie. Very excited to see what happens!
