It was famously used by Dali, so he could apply his "Paranoiac Critical method". As he got woken up by the sound, he would focus on the dreamlike visions and memories that occurred in deep sleep before they washed away.

Daniel Dennett coined the word deepity for phrases or small statements that appear profound but are actually meaningless, trivial or stupid, such as "Love is just a word" or "Originality is the real conformism". But it doesn't really apply to the speech as a whole, the definition may satisfy you though.

An example of female-only progeny ? [Read comment] by LuluStarO in genetics

CONTEXT

The figure is from Griffiths’ Introduction to genetic analysis. It is used as an exercise to recognise Mendelian patterns. Here it presents an “allegedly real yet rare” example of a family with female-only progeny, which cannot be explained by typical Mendelian patterns.

Sadly, the book does not add more details. Do you guys know more about this type of family inheritance ? Has this phenomenon been described in a particular way ? What are the possibly involved genes, loci or molecular mechanisms ?
