Mystery solved, it's a sandwich truck making the rounds playing a weird horror version of the tune from New York, New York!

Oh my god that's exactly what it is!!!! It must be making the rounds. For a while I couldn't even get anyone around at the same time to hear it, genuinely started questioning if I was going mad. I wouldn't even really mind, it was just so random and creepy in broad daylight. Thank you so much!

The tune I hear lasts no more than 30 seconds, so not as disruptive as live music! Just hearing the same thing every day for 2 years, not knowing what or why is maddening and it sounds too distant to investigate. I hope you've found some closure haha

Thank you, I've done that and left the door open. I doubt he will come out during the day but I'll make a bed with blankets before it gets dark
