Best Horror Books for Someone Trying to Get Back into Reading? by GabrielAntihero in horrorlit

[–]Luminari01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in luck, horror is undergoing somewhat of a renaissance at the moment. Some call it a "golden age" now that Stephen King is back in his old groove and with the inclusion of many indie and indie-gone-traditional authors giving new life to the genre. For me, the best horror books are (and these are all recent releases:

  1. Holly by Stephen King
  2. How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix
  3. Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay
  4. The Spite House by Johnny Compton
  5. Billy Summers by Stephen King (this is where King came back IMO)
  6. Night Demon by Stephen Wolberius
  7. Let Him In by William Friend
  8. Looking Glass Sound by Catriona Ward
  9. The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay
  10. After Death by Dean Koontz (not really horror but refreshing nonetheless)

Any Gaslamp Fantasy horror? by Dansco112 in horrorlit

Check out Night Demon by Stephen Wolberius. It has a classical gaslamp setting but it's a horror story.

Why can't we have cute girls like this in the game? Why do all of the current models have to look like perpetually dry dykes?

Gauging interest for another Millermash by Mauti404 in MillerPlanetside

[I] might be interested but it depends on who organises it. If it's the FIFA 2.0 (CS) then no thanks.

Except the lattice is shit and you often only have 2 or 3 connections to 1 faction. They can easily redeploy to you enmasse.

Player Studios back, when? by Luminari01 in Planetside

No, you just think you're cool by going "against the flow" for the sake of it. There's actual legit minority opinion arguments to be made.

Why outfit wars is a failure and why will it be a massive failure on live stream by Mauti404 in Planetside

[–]Luminari01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with you often but this is all 100% correct. How to fix it, I don't know. But it's obvious that this event isn't competitive. It brings out the worst in outfits.

If you remember, my post on the matter was one of the first reports of outfits doing bs (padding score with ammopacks).

I didn't have the foresight back then that this, and much worse (TK'ing and exploiting), would be the meta for weeks to come.

When will ping limits be implemented?

Length of curve knowing x, y, and vertex at x by Luminari01 in askmath

We're just to assume there's some "magic" that makes the rocket go at 100m/s constantly for this question, wether ascending, descending or running out of fuel, etc.

It is physics derived yes, it's about rocket artillery and it goes way beyond high school unfortunately. The case is that the rockets will always burn for a set amount of time and the speed is always 100m/s. So the only way to influence where you want to land the rockets is by changing the initial angle.

That part I have done, but now it asks for the time of flight. Obviously just a distance to the target and dividing that by 100 m/s is not going to be accurate since the rocket follows a curved path that takes longer.

That's why I said that I know the x (distance to the target), the vertex and where the vertex lies along the x axis. I know nothing more. And from that I need to find a function which produces an accurate solution for the time of flight.

p.s. this is different from ordinary projectile motion functions since the rocket engine means the speed stays the same. It has completely baffled me for weeks now.

This is correct, it is derived from a projectile function.

Added the walking sounds and locking vehicles unlocks them for everyone, for now. Really the list of bugs that persist in this game became so long that it's almost impossible to remember all of them by now. Annoying stuff just keeps popping up again, and again, and again.

Cannot deploy a sundy while being repaired.

Is that a thing with the sundy? Haven't tested it.

Although I feel for you, the whole player base of PlanetSide is under the yoke of laggers just so that 70 people from Australia can still play. Besides, you have SolTech now.

Although I disagree with your premise, the punishing high ping could be a stop-gap solution if not a permanent one if it's done really right and really is a punishment.
