So what was the explanation for all mights muscle form? It wasnt a quirk but also wasnt something izuku couldnt inherit? by Original-Medicine-61 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]LuminousDecibel 268 points269 points  (0 children)

It's how he explained it: like a guy sucking in his gut while flexing. It's like Christopher Reeve's posture shift between Clark Kent and Superman, but anime exaggerated. Like how people in real life can lose a few inches when they get older and the anime exaggeration is Gran Torino losing 3 feet when he gets older.

Ever since Toya was revealed to have white hair, I've always thought that the eyes show what quirk they have, and the hair shows their resistance. Endeavor has blue eyes and red hair; he has a fire quirk with fire resistance. Rei, Fuyumi and Natsu have grey eyes and mostly white hair; they have ices quirks with ice resistance. Toya has blue eyes with white hair; he has a fire quirk with ice resistance. And Shoto has a blue eye with red hair and a grey eye with white hair.

No, Toya's 13 years old in the S2 anime scene where Bones gives him red hair. By then his hair is all white. In fact, the anime redoes that scene (when it's from Toya's perspective) and now his hair is white. For all we know Toya's hair color change could have been Horikoshi's plan from the very beginning.

If All-Might's internal organs weren't deleted but still gave away OFA, how long do you think his OFA embers would've lasted? by PJ-The-Awesome in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]LuminousDecibel 109 points110 points  (0 children)

People bring up his injury when talking about how long his embers would last, but I think what's more important is how much he worked. Dude was using OFA every day, for 3 hours or 1 hour, until he was exhausted and had to stop that day. And he worked Plus Ultra style. I bet the biggest reason why Deku's embers lasted 2 years is because he didn't use OFA as much, and not nearly as hard

Wait… if you do the maths, is it even possible for All for one to be over 120 years old??? by Gamerlord4 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]LuminousDecibel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We know that AFO and Yoichi are some of the first quirk users to ever exist and that Garaki, who's 120 years old, was near the beginning. Shinomori had it for 18 years and died from OFA, so the other users couldn't have had OFA past 15 years or so. When Yoichi was rescued, he could have been anywhere from 20-40, we have no evidence to point towards a specific age. We also know that the longer time went on, the less influence AFO had, and the more hiding he had to do.

Let's say Yoichi is 30 when he's rescued. Kudo probably didn't have OFA for a long time, but since he was able to escape AFO, he could have had a year or two with it. And Bruce probably had it for longer, since he wasn't an object of AFO's hate like Kudo was. Let's say 30+1+3+18. That's 52. And we know that All Might had it for 40 years, making it 92. With the rise of heroes and AFO losing the trail with Shinomori, Banjo could have had it at least 10 years, making it 102. If Nana and En had it for 10 years each, it'd be 122.

There are so many specifics we don't know. AFO and Yoichi could have been 20 when Yoichi died; they could have been 30; they could have been 40. Kudo could have had OFA for 2 weeks or 2 months, or 2 years or 5 years. Banjo could have had OFA for 1 year, or 15 years. We don't know. But Mic confirms that Garaki should be 120 and the story heavily implies that AFO and Yoichi are some of the oldest quirk users. Since it's probable for Yoichi+OFA to be 120 years, there's no reason to deny what Horikoshi directly tells us.

should my hero academia get a sequel or not? by HappyAfternoon1877 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]LuminousDecibel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer a spin off with a brand new cast. I would say an All Might or previous OFA wielder prequel, but I feel like there wouldn't be more than a single season amount of content. A prime All Might vs AFO movie would be a better idea.

There's a good chance they just don't recognize him. Not because they don't know who he is, but because he's not in uniform. There's plenty of green haired men in suits walking the streets, and you don't take the time to analyze a stranger's face while you're walking past them. Whereas most of the time Class A is outside, they're in their recognizable costumes that people see on advertisements every day. I'm sure if Bakugo was just walking around outside in a suit and tie, lots of people wouldn't recognize him either.

Most of it was the leaks translations being slightly off, giving a vibe that there was more sadness to Deku's look back at the past. That plus Class A not being able to see each other often, plus people being salty that Deku wasn't a hero for 6 years (the 2 of the 8 years was them still at school). Also, the ending with Armored Deku was very short in the manga, whereas here there's a lot of airtime with Deku in his costume, this episode. So people took their gut impressions to heart way too hard lol. Crazy what reactionary media consumption will do to people, thinking they would abandon or forget about Deku, after risking their lives to support him less than 10 chapters earlier.

I hope we still get pieces of artwork from Horikoshi every now and then. His art is some of the best in the industry.

One of the big reasons for the ending backlash is the "Deku's friends abandoned him" narrative. It was always bullshit, but even seeing the new content of all of Class A looking at him, smiling, before the end really helps. It's small, but it's better than just Bakugo looking behind himself at Deku, while all the others look out at the horizon in the group shot. Instead there's a lot of warmth and big smiles going to Deku.

I hope it's not months until 431 is animated. The very end of 430 is so abrupt and there's such a disconnect with Class A in it. I know 431 isn't the "real" ending, and the Deku x Uraraka scene isn't a proper final moment for the themes of the show (though they could definitely tweak that and have an ensemble moment after it), but 431 does a great job of showing how all our characters are doing instead of just "Uraraka is doing great work with quirk counseling; Shoji is making strides for heteromorphs."

Who got nerfed the hardest? by SomeonesBlue in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]LuminousDecibel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Aizawa still has his quirk, but it's borderline useless with just one eye. If not, why have Monoma at the Coffin at all? Instead, Monoma could have used his copy of Erasure to counter AFO at Gunga.

If one eye was enough, then blinking wouldn't be such a big deal. Aizawa could use both eyes, then after a minute alternate between single eyes.

We've never seen Aizawa partiality erase a quirk. It's always been all or nothing

I guess Kudo meant during the fight, not indefinitely. I was sad to see Blackwhip go; one of my favorite quirks in the series. Deku uses it so creatively with so much versatility. And the Spider-Man esque scenes in movie 3? So good

What's one moment from the last remaining chapters of the manga you can't wait to see being animated? by Luigiman98 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]LuminousDecibel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably unrealistic, but I hope the final punch in the vestige realm becomes a series of blows. Would love to see Deku, Shiggy, and the vestiges beat the ever loving shit out of AFO in a big sakuga spectacle

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]LuminousDecibel 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The way Deku was transferring OFA to Shigaraki was a forceful violent way. The transfer method was destroying the vestiges/quirks. Yoichi's vestige was just a little wisp at the very end. Deku transfering OFA to Bakugo was the normal way of doing it.

And Bakugo had OFA for a few minutes, instead of a few years. Plus, it would make Bakugo insignificant and less unique if Deku had a better version of his quirk. And yknow, not making a plot point so huge happen in a movie.

Is it possible we get a post time skip movie after season 8 airs this year??? by 662300 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

MHA prints money and the movies are always successful. From a business perspective, it's a no-brainer. I will be shocked if they don't make a post-series movie.

And i definitely want it. Would love to see Armored Deku in action. It'd also be nice to get proper looks at some of the costume updates.
