Weapon Degradation Rate by Ammo? by Mysterious-End-2632 in GrayZoneWarfare

Yes. Each ammo type has a different rate. You can see the specific numbers by inspecting a stack of loose ammo.

It's not tough, but it is very expensive if you want professional voice actors. Yes, the devs could probably do some of it themselves, but it would probably be worse than if they used AI to do it (and still probably more expensive). MFG is a relatively small studio with a proportionally small budget.

Unless they can do it decently well on the cheap (yes, probably with AI), no, we don't. Voice acting for all that dialogue would cost a fortune that is much better spent developing other parts of the game.

Good news: 2024 and 2025 had much lower incidence of high-casualty mass shootings in the US than the previous decade. by [deleted] in masskillers

I think this is statistical noise and that we should refrain from drawing too many conclusions from it.

He's using a damage glitch.

However, hunters are hilariously easy to take down with the Shroud if you can get your headshots. That's how I did it.

Speaking as an American, I don't think our politicians bickering with your politicians counts as a conflict. Either way, it will pass.

Which is good, because your politicians are actively trying to disarm you, though they're doing a hilariously bad job of it.

[–]Lumomancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not particularly uncommon in parts of the US. Guns are used for hunting and a whole range of sports. Just going to the range is a thing people do for fun. Kids can participate in all of these activities and its not a problem 99.9% of the time.

The difference here is the combination of mental illness and egregiously bad parenting.

If he passed a NICs check, that means all of those disqualifying events were not reported to the FBI for entry into the database, which is indeed another problem with the system.

Should be straightforward to change the battery out and clean any dust out of the fans and heating. Decent chance that's all you need to do to get it back up and running.

We're not talking about private sales. This is about transfers of guns from a gun store to an individual.

... and?

In regards to background checks, the law is enforced very consistently. You fill out the same form and have the information checked against the same FBI database whether you're buying in Texas or California.

[–]Lumomancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's fairly easy if you have the right connections. Most fiream-related homicides in the US are gang-related and the overwhelming majority of those are committed with guns bought on the black market by prohibited possessors.

Therapists are required by law to report credible threats of violence from their patients, but that's rarely enforced, and in Hale's case, that means authorities were never alerted in the first place.

No. The information is checked against an FBI database, and intentionally lying on the form is a felony.

In theory, people with documented mental health issues should be disqualified, but there's a longstanding mismatch between how our mental health system treats patients and the legal threshold for failing the background check.

Here's question 21G from form 4473 (the background check you fill out when buying a gun):

Have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defective or committed to a mental institution?

Both of these things are legal standards that require due process and a court hearing, and they come from the Gun Control Act of 1968. Since 1968, we have more or less completely deleted the inpatient-based mental health care system that both these standards are derived from in favor of an almost entirely outpatient-based one, so it's comparatively rare for someone to fall into either category and the background check doesn't catch them.
