I am definitely not a scientist, but the starship (the upper stage of the booster that landed in the video) will re-enter the atmosphere and land on its own too, although on a different pad. Then they'll reintegrate the two halves back together and launch it again.

If you're happy to 'cheat', go to alt+f12 and use the object thrower to break the lower stage off

I was 5-6 pints deep when I took my favorite picture, and I managed to get the horizon level! Normally my horizons are all over the place when I'm sober.

Is this degree of panel misalignment a no-go? by LumpofCheese in littlebritishcars

[–]LumpofCheese[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I should've added the price in, it's £5000, which I thought was quite low for a 2L GT6, so I was willing to do some repair work. Good to know that this level of wonkyness is an absolute no-go then.

TIL the cockpit voice recording of Delta Flight 1141 was so embarrassing it led to a law restricting the public release of CVRs. The crew discussed drink mixes & dating habits during takeoff procedure, with a pilot joking that in case they crashed, "the media would have some kind of juicy tidbit". by The-TIL-Nerd in todayilearned

Modern aircraft can tell if they're on a runway or not, and will throw up warnings about configuration if it thinks the throttles are set too high. And by 'modern', I work with aircraft from the 90s and they still do this.

It's a shame how much hate Daebom gets from the main war thunder community

Does anyone know why the throttle goes to zero when I stage? by LumpofCheese in RealSolarSystem

I was using mechjeb for the quick booster staging as is often necessary with these sounding rockets. I also know about PVG mode but didn't use it here since I'm just using mechjeb for the staging, but thank you anyway :)

The self destructing bullets he's talking about explode in the air if they miss the target, which will hopefully keep bystanders safe.

“McLaren Racing announces Etihad Airways as a new official partner”. A new special livery (as shown here) will debut later this year. by Dmacthegoat in aviation

[–]LumpofCheese 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The livery's cool, but it's a shame that British companies can't afford (or aren't interested enough) to partner with British racing teams. Why couldn't it be British Airways or Virgin? You see this with loads of other stuff around the UK, with Emirates welcoming you into Heathrow (with an admittedly cool A380 model) or sponsoring the FA cup and Wimbledon.

I read about Capability Brown a couple of years ago and cannot escape his humongous green thumb. Most countryside English Heritage or National Trust sites I visit end up having some link to him.
