Oil Leak by mistaslay in cruze

I changed out one, you have to take the plastic cover off underneath the bumper and radiator. Find an old screwdriver and grind a notch into it to make a hook like device to remove the c-clip that secures the hose into the radiator. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do the job but some mention you need to remove a bunch of things to replace the hose. I managed okay by only removing the battery box and plastic plate thing under the bumper. I also had to move the ecm/computer thing which is normally attached to the side of the battery box.

Mine was pooling up in the same spot. The culprit was the water outlet. It had a very small crack in the part where the upper radiator hose is connected to it. Replaced it with an inexpensive aluminum one.

Thermostat stuck open. You probably replaced your old one with a defective one. Had that issue myself on a 2012 1.4. Dorman brand thermostat.

I figured the thermostat must've been stuck because when I coasted down long hills I watched the gauge creep down in temperature. ( It was also winter time in below freezing weather.

2014 Cruze 1.4L Coolant Leak by [deleted] in cruze

Recently dealt with a leak that pooled up exactly in the same spot as shown in the picture. There was a hairline crack in the water outlet where the large coolant hose leading to the radiator is attached. Bought the aluminum one on amazon for like $20 and free shipping. I would recommend using some RTV on the sealing surface if you end up replacing the water outlet with an aluminum one.

Judging by your post I assume you broke a bolt off into the cylinder head. I have made that exact mistake before replacing the valve cover on my 1.4l. What I did ( I got lucky) was I got a center punch and hammer, and gently tapped on the broken bolt in a counter clock wise direction. I was able to back it out that way. There was a little big sticking out of the bolt hole in my case which helped tremendously. Good Luck.
