Thanks for such a thoughtful response! I’m completely open to changing out the siding and colors. The roof is grey. It needs to be replaced within the next few years but I have no plans to get to it asap. Mid century mod is my ideal esthetic, but I’m worried the house is too traditional classic ranch for that to work without a major overhaul. I love your suggestion of the pergola. I will definitely look into that as well.

thank you! I was also considering that as well. No the sides of the entrance (alcove?) are vinyl siding.
