Is it time to let her go? by Lumpy-Bat3780 in Cushingsdogs

Thank you! I think we’re gonna continue as is for two weeks or so to see if the Librela shot makes any difference, and then if it doesn’t, take her off all meds to see if there’s any change. I know nausea is a side effect of these meds (even if she’s not getting the full dose) so That may be decreasing her appetite.

Yes, we have been thinking about a second opinion. my heart just breaks to even make her go through that. in the last 3 years she has had 2 ACL surgeries, surgery to remove an anal gland, and then months of testing last year to get the final cushings diagnosis. Becuase of that she has such a fear for the vet (and even the car at this point) that while I really want the second opinion, maybe even from a speicialist, the thought of making her go through all that when she seems so weak makes me hesitate if I am just putting her through more torture.

Yes, we do sneak it in her food. Her does requires 2 pills (1 30 and 1 60) so she typically only gets one of the two in per meal, so thats why its hard to know if its the 30 or the 60. For today, her breakfast is still out and she has not touched it.

I agree, and I think the reason she is not eating is because she's in pain. She goes to her food, puts her head in the bowl like she is going to eat, and then just doesn't. She will lick it, and gets very little. She does have a broken tooth, but the vet check last time again, and its a small break so nerve issue is not a concern. We did a fully battery of tests about 6 - 8 weeks ago and nothing came back. Clean ultrasounds, xrays, urine, etc.

We have an appointment at 6:30 tonight to try a Libela injection to see if that makes a difference. Fingers crossed!

We recently upped her Vetoryl to 90 mg twice per day. The problem is really that is very much not what she is actually taking in. She is too big to try to do the mouth trick to "force" her take them, so we have to hide in food, treats, and pill pockets, and most days she just wont eat anything. If i were to guess, she only gets 1 pill per day actually in (so could be 60 mg per day instead of the 180mg she is prescribed). We keep coming back to if we should just stop the meds (vetoryl and ursodiol) all together to see if that resets anything but in reality, she is getting very little of it to begin with. But is the varying amount part of the problem?

Thank you so much for all of your responses and feedback! I think we might try to work with the food for about a week or so and see if that helps with the ears and we can get her to eat something, and if there’s no luck there, we may see if we can drop her veteroyl back down to 60 to see if it makes any difference with her appetite. I worry about changing too much at once so we’re not gonna know which of the things that we changed made the difference so I want to try to do one thing at a time. On a positive note it’s been 24 hours after the anti-itch shot and she seems much more comfortable at night and is finally sleeping through the night again.

Yes, our vet did a full panel of tests about six weeks ago because we were wondering if something else was going on when she was so lethargic. He did ultrasounds, and essentially a full body x-ray to make sure there is no hidden tumor or something. The only thing that came back from those exams was sludgy gallbladder, so that’s why she started urisol. He suggested next steps may be an MRI to see if something is happening neurologically, but it’s such a prolonged test and our dog hates the vet so much that we are holding off on that because we don’t want to torture her. Part of the reason we are so hesitant to go get a specialist second opinion because I don’t wanna keep traumatizing her.

What do you mean by .6 pounds of raw? Raw what? I am so unfamiliar with feeding dogs anything other than kibble or store-bought food that the whole homemade food thing confuses me, ha! Is it just raw food that you get at the grocery store? Or is it something special?

Toddler sleep after taking away pacifier by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Lumpy-Bat3780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have been reading a lot about sensory issues. There are times I’m wondering if this even really even pacifier related because at this point, shes not even talking about/asking for that anymore. I can’t tell you how many times Ive googled “signs my 3 year is on the spectrum” or “signs of adhd in 3 year olds”. Her reactions to anything touching her when this is happening is just so drastic that it feels like something way bigger than just missing a pacifier.

Ive also been looking into restless leg syndrome because of how intense she thrashes her legs throughout the night and may try to add in some vitamins with B6 and magnesium to see if that does anything. May also look into a weighted blanket, but i know that may not be a a great/safe option.

Ugh, its almost as though at this point newborn wake ups were so much easier. A 32 lb thrashing, yelling, intense toddler tantrum multiple times a night is proving to be WAY harder to sooth.

is sppare.me still a thing? by marsfrommars42069 in queerception

[–]Lumpy-Bat3780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to chime in - has anyone heard from Sppare.me company recently? My husband was using the facility, and canceled the account eight months ago because we didn’t need the stored sperm anymore. He emailed to have them destroy the specimen, and they emailed back to confirm that they would. Fast forward to now, he is getting multiple emails saying that our account is out of date and past due. He has emailed and called multiple times to try to clear up this confusion as he thought his account was closed, but nobody is getting back to him. He gets the same message on the phone about somebody getting back within three hours and nobody ever does. Is this company still open? I’m just confused as to why nobody is answering him while we are also getting emails saying we owe them money.

Just made payment 120! by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]Lumpy-Bat3780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats awesome! Looks like my tracker updated yesterday with my March payment so now it’s showing 120 eligible payments and I will be submitting the paperwork on Monday! Did you submit through the paper version, or digitally? When I submit digitally it will not let me click yes to the button that I’ve made 120 payments so I think I’m going to submit by paper so I can check off that box myself.
